Even better than I expected -- though wish "dementia" removed from the name of the clock - UPDATE: They Did!! :-)
UPDATE: The manufacturer did remove the word Dementia form the name of its product! Good going! Shows that the manufacturer reads the reviews and is open to helpful suggestions -- consistent with the helpfulness of its product. Thumbs up!!!My partner has a different form of cognitive impairment than people are most familiar with. His intellect is still intact but his executive functioning is impaired. He has a form of Parkinson's along with very severe peripheral neuropathy (idiopathic - no known cause.) His vision is hard for him to manage as it is difficult for his eye muscles to maintain visual focus. On top of that he suffers from body dysmorphia -- which means he doesn't always recognize what are his body parts from anything else.He is a brilliant man, a noted philosopher, and very clever and hard-working. Together we figure out ways for him to circumvent the deficits his diseases create so he can still function.More recently, his sense of time has gone out the window. He can't sustain what day it is or what time it is. His sense of passage of time is completely off. If he is very engaged in some activity, time passes quickly. If he is waiting for something -- it passes very slowly. This is true for everyone but for him this is magnified by a substantial factor. If he is waiting for ten minutes, say for a car to pick him up, it feels to him like 45 minutes or more has passed. He had been using the following clock:Dynamic Living Oversized 16-inch X 7.5-inch Digital Led Calendar Wall Clock which has been great for a couple of years because of the large display (significantly larger than than the clock being reviewed here - I mention this so the reader will not be concerned if the Digital Calendar clock reviewed here is too small -which it isn't.)But as time has passed, my partner's disease had progressed and his ability to focus his eyes as well as interpret what he sees has significantly diminished. Now the neon light digital numbers and letters appear too blurry for him to read, despite its size.So I had been looking at this Digital Calendar Day Clock. It is smaller than the one I list right above -- the size and the letters & numbers are smaller - I was a bit concerned that the would be too small for my partner to read. But when I received the Digital Calendar Day Clock, as soon as I turned it on and had him look at it from 10 feet away -- he had no problems reading it -even without his special glasses. There is something excellent about the thickness of the letters and the sharp bright white light against the black background that makes everything easier for him to read.I would have difficulties having this clock in my bedroom, however, as its brightness would keep me up -- but my partner has taken up residence in a nursing facility. He spends 4 days and nights there and 3 days and night home with me. So we are setting the clock up in his room at the nursing facility. We've just received it. So I don't know yet how well he will be able to use it - to think to look at it to figure out the day and time. But given he can develop the habit, it will help anchor his sense of day and time at this stage of his cognitive functioning. So given all these elements, I highly recommend it and for those of you with a family member whose functioning is declining - don't hesitate to try it. I don't know what the return policy is -- It is expensive but the odds are high it will work for your family member and will be worth evry penny spent.

LOVE IT! A BEST BUY
I searched the internet and M&B stores for a date/time clock. Just about all brands I found on Amazon do not give manufacture or location information and do not have websites,Finally Google found me Dayclox that has a very informative website, with customer service contact information in plain sight. Made in England, the website states Dayclox is the original maker of such clock and has a one year warranty.Belatedly, I discovered an Amazon Editor’s pick list and Dayclox is one of only a few brands on the list. I checked out the editor’s picks and Dayclox came out on top of my research. My personal findings: Right out of the box (high quality as well), plugged in and day, time, date came on instantly, all accurately set—time zone too! How’d it know what time zone I live in? LOL.The black face, with bright bluish-white (not yellow white) letters/numbers (dims in evening — dimmer can be turned off) in white frame is cleanly attractive. The pull-out stand in back feels sturdy, but I put the clock in a scroll metal picture frame stand, which makes it as decorative as functional on my desk. Side note: I have cheap gold and silver twisted-wire picture stands, but the clock is too heavy for them. Besides, the scroll frame is more elegant as well as sturdy.I don’t need alarms, but multiple options appear easy to set. It is bigger than expected and perfect for my macular degeneration-impaired vision. I am up to 30 pt font on large computer screen. The clock readout appears larger. In every aspect, Dayclox has my vote for the best out there. And a friend is going to get one for a birthday gift. My advice: do your own research before buying and look for the brands’ websites.

I was not sure if he would like this because he is very particular but he loves ...
I bought this clock for my fathers for his birthday in January. I was not sure if he would like this because he is very particular but he loves his clock and he tells me that he receives a lot of complements on the clock. My father said that the clock helps him keep track of his schedule, appointments, etc. What I love about this item is when I was visiting my dad one evening he told me that he had a secret that he needed to tell me. He said when the doctor came in his room to evaluate him (my dad was sitting in his recliner and the doctor was sitting in a chair with his back next to the desk where the Dayclox was sitting.) The doctor wanted my father to tell him what day of the week it was; Dad looked at the clock and said Wednesday. The doctor said that is correct but can you tell me the date; dad looked at the clock and said today is March 16. The doctor said that is terrific now can you tell me what year is it and dad looked at the clock again and said 2016. The doctor told dad he was right on top of things. Dad said that the doctor never knew he was looking at the clock and that he felt like a little kid getting away with something and that this was the best present he ever received. I thought well at least he is enjoying the clock and he is using it. Dad did say that it helps him the most in the morning because now when he gets up in the morning the first thing he sees is the clock and he knows the day, time, date and that the clock is really easy to read. I would highly recommend anyone who has an elderly parent with dementia to buy this clock it has been a life saver for my dad.
