I love that it's customizable - it comes with the tree squished down so you can adjust it into whatever shape you want and then fan out the branches how you'd like. I haven't had any ash fall outside of the dish as long as I lean the incense stick toward the tree if it doesn't sit straight up. There are different size holes to try out in order to figure out what's best for the different brands of incense. I love this thing it's so cute!! I look a pic next to my switch so you can see the size. The only thing I'd change is the chips on the dish are held in place by a pool of resin instead of each one glued down so it looks a little weird when up close but when you set up somewhere you don't really notice it.
