Flawed lens at a fair price
Firstly the good stuff...Focal Length: 28mm is a lovely focal length. There's a good reason why many modern smartphones use this focal length as their standard lens.Size and Weight: The lens is dinky and perfectly compliments the A7/A9 style bodies.Autofocus: It's as quick and sharp as my other more expensive Sony and Zeiss lenses. It's pretty sharp in the centre as well.Price: When there are offers on, the price of this lens is irresistible. And the bad stuff...Axial CA: Shooting wide open results in crazy CA. Lightroom can mostly correct it, but it's pretty much as bad as it gets on a prime at this price.Distortion: I expect some distortion for a wide lens, but this lens suffers really badly from it. Even with corrections in post, it can look a little 'off.'Vignetting: I like a bit of natural lens vignetting. On my Zeiss lenses, I think it adds a little character. With this lens, it's all too much.Build Quality: It's plastic like most modern lenses, but it feels less robust than other Sony lenses. So in conclusion...If you can afford it, it's a handy focal length and won't take up much space in your camera bag. If Sony were to release a version of this with the same quality as their wonderful 35mm 1.8 FE, they'd have a winner on their hands. As it stands, it's a fair price for what is a compromised and flawed lens.

Very good low priced lens
Pros:Bang for your bucks( or pounds).Small, like you barely notice it there even next to the 50mm f1.8.Much tougher build than the 50mm.I haven't noticed there to be much chromatic aberration, ( took it out on a photo shoot on a very sunny, cloudless day.).Adapting extra glass to make this lens wides is a really nice option.Cons-ishthere's a ticking noise when you change the aperture, Sony did clarify that this is present in the lens.lens missed focussing a few times on moving object.Distortion is present but can easily be corrected in Lightroom.Overall I am happy with this lens. It holds up well and its a very nice focal length, helps me be creative with fashion shoots and use the distortion to my favor. The option to buy adapters to make this an even wider angle lens is amazing. no complaints.

Good but not great
Good lens, nice everyday focal length (same as in most smartphones), quite fast with F2 aperture, lightweight, compact and fast autofocus. Solid aluminium construction. However, don't expect super sharpness, it's got similar sharpness at F2 as the kit lens as F3.5. Also, it's not stabilized, so for an A7 without IBIS it's not that useful compared to the kit lens.

Excellent Video Lens
I got this recently as a wide video lens for both handheld and gimbal work. The lens is lovely and light, fast AF and does a cracking job, its a very good lens for the price and I would recommend it.

Great prime lens
Paired up with the sony a6000 it delivers great image quality. Bokeh is very appealing and the colors are vibrant. The distortion on the crop sized sensor is not very noticeable, but I've seen mentions that on the full-frame it might become a nuisance. The JPEGs correct for the distortion and there are also correction profiles on Lightroom. Beware if you are buying for a FF camera.A must buy if you are thinking of a prime lens and maybe on the future you do want to upgrade to a FF sensor. Price is sensible and on par with other prime offerings from Sony.Doesn't have IS, unfortunately.

Excellent, small lightweight lens to always keep in your bag
Great lens, so small and the electric focus makes focusing so smooth and completely silent! Its a really handy lens to have and i use it for the majority of my shots. The lens is incredibly lightweight and I recently found out Sony has 2 converter lenses (16mm fisheye & 21mm wide angle) that can be screwed onto the front of the lens!My only bad comment on this lens is that it does have a huge distortion but with the likes of lightroom this can easily be sorted out.

My now default go-to lens
This has quietly become my go-to lens for 4K Netflix interviews on an FS7, but also my “nifty fifty” (ish) travelling photo lens on an A7RII or A5100. Sharp, fast enough and always surprises me with more lovely results than I have any right to expect. I have a 55/1.8 and 16-35/2.8 as well, but this 28 is the one that always gets pulled out of the bag. Bit of CA sometimes, but I can live with that. Unsexy lens that really delivers. And delights my clients.
