Acceptable Kit!
Cant beat it for the money! I purchased this kit because i was in the market for a seldom used soldering iron. While i was shopping, i had the need to use my ohm meter and could not find it. When I saw this kit included a meter,i decided to go for it. The meter is of low quality but if you don't need a lab quality instrument, this does fine. The meter is acceptable and the soldering iron is also of low quality but acceptable. It gets the job done as does the meter. All the extras are just iceing on the cake. The case is a good addition and keeps the whole kit nicely intact. If you use these items rarely, or need them as spares, this kit is great!

Great set for small jobs and everyday repairs
I ordered this because I've been getting more into doing my own electrical and stereo work, and I wanted an actual soldering iron instead of trying to improvise every time I needed to make a wiring repair. So far, I'm really happy with it. The first thing I noticed is how quickly it heats up. The 80W ceramic heating element gets up to temperature in roughly 30 seconds, so I'm not sitting around waiting forever before I can actually start working. The adjustable temperature control is also really useful. Being able to set the temperature anywhere from 392ยฐF to 842ยฐF means I can use it for smaller electronics work without automatically blasting everything with maximum heat. The LCD display is another feature I really like. It makes it easy to see exactly what temperature the iron is set to instead of guessing based on how quickly the solder melts. I've been building up a pretty decent little electrical toolkit lately, and this fits right in with it. I've got a multimeter now, a heat gun with solder seal connectors and heat shrink, wire cutters/strippers, and now a proper soldering iron. I'm basically slowly turning a corner of my workspace into an electronics bench. ๐ For automotive work, this is especially useful. When I'm working on things like car stereo wiring, being able to properly solder a connection gives me another option besides crimp connectors or heat applied solder sealed shrinking connectors. Sometimes you just need to make a really clean, real permanent connection, and having the right tool available makes that much easier. The kit itself also comes with quite a bit. You get multiple soldering tips, solder, a desoldering pump, tweezers, wire cutters/strippers, a small wire cutter, wire, a stand, cleaning sponge, insulation tape, a wire knife, and a carrying bag. It's a pretty good starter package for someone who doesn't already have a bunch of soldering equipment. I also like that the iron itself is portable compared to a traditional soldering station. I don't need to dedicate a permanent spot on the workbench just to use it. Plug it in, set your desired temperature, let it heat up, and get to work. If I had to find something to complain about, the included accessories aren't necessarily going to replace a professionals electronics bench. But that's really not what I bought this for. For automotive wiring, small electronic repairs, DIY projects, and learning how to solder properly, it gives me a lot to work with. The adjustable temperature and LCD display are probably the biggest reasons I like this over a more generic soldering iron. As I'm getting more comfortable with electrical work, having more control over the tool is definitely useful. Between this, the multimeter, the heat-shrink/solder-seal kit, and the other wiring tools I've picked up, I'm starting to have everything I need to actually diagnose, repair, and build things instead of just replacing parts and hoping for the best. ๐ For someone getting into electronics, automotive wiring, or DIY repairs, this is a really useful little kit. It's compact, heats quickly, gives you actual temperature control, and includes enough accessories to get started without having to buy a dozen other things separately.

For what you get in this kit and the price makes this a sound buy. Is it a Weller? No, but it works. Would I bang it every day on a work bench to build electronics. Probably not. I keep it in my Harley toolbox in the shop to keep the old Fat Boy bright and flashy.

This is the perfect gadget repair pack for the once in awhile repair guy!
This thing has everything you could ever need and then some I'm not a big tech guy but for this price I have the gadget to fix any future projects! I would highly recommend if a dummy like me can use it!

Terrible tips/iron but comes with enough supplies to justify the price
After purchasing a lot more additional soldering supplies, having to repair the broken plastic threading on the "body" or "handle" of the device and using higher quality tip-tinner and rosin flux, I finally got something usable. But it was a lot of trouble and ended up costing me even more money to make a cheaply made product usable. Perhaps you'll have better (or even worse) luck with this product, because quality control seems very lax and probably fluctuates wildly. So you can actually use these things, but only if you're lucky enough to get a non-defective one or spend the extra time and money to repair it. But just be warned that there's a reason it's so cheap. I had to reduce my rating from 3 stars to 2 stars, because the iron literally started falling apart on me ... apparently, when they molded the plastic, it didn't fill in the mold adequately where the tip housing threads on, creating weak and defective threads that wouldn't grip. I think that's called a "short shot" or "flow hesitation" in plastic molding manufacturing terminology. I was, however, able to make it stay in place decently with a bunch of Teflon tape. If that ends up failing on me, I may be forced to permanently fix it in place with a strong epoxy/glue like JB Weld. I would show a photo of the failure mode I'm describing, but I'm not going to dare take it back apart and mess up the repairs I've done thus far. But I'm finally able to solder with it decently enough, after going through hell with it. I've also noticed that the little cheap multimeter usually works somewhat well, but it's also prone to wander and "bug out" and give you nonsense readings. Sometimes you can fix that by turning it off and back on again (also check your battery). Other than that, the only thing that kept it above 0 stars was the fact that it came with a good bit of startup supplies like heat-shrink tubing and tooling.
