As I understand it, the problem with programming with WIFI first is that you can't tell whether the system is shutting off the water via Device to Device (D2D) or through the WIFI. Click AUTOMATION top right of screen 3. Click PLUS sign at top of screen 4. Click NAME and use name you use for one individual leak sensor 5. Click PLUS sign under WHEN, then choose your DEVICE ACTION 6. To have the sensor shut off water whenever a leak is detected, click your leak sensor with the same name and then 7. CHOOSE A RULE. My choice was to if WATER DETECTED, then 8. BEHAVIOR, click PLUS Sign, then DEVICE ACTION is to CHECK BOX on YO LINK VALVE, then CLOSE VALVE. Click CONFIRM, then click check marks to confirm. They both look like they do the same, differences?** A: I think the $160 one you are referring to is their newer product that has the motor and LoRa receiver in one unit on top of the valve. This is the X3 controller, which is meant to be a little more robust (I think they market it as “commercial” grade) and has a much longer (10 year) battery life. **Q: Does the 3/4” version come with shark bite fittings and do they work on plastic pipe?** A: No. It is ready for threaded pipe or threaded fittings. PEX, CPVC, etcetera, will require adapters (SharkBite is good!), not included. **Q: It says, "you can do this! sharkbite fittings make this a diy job for anyone" ...but it doesn't have sharkbite fittings?** A: I'm sorry about the slow reply. Your question was overlooked. The Sharkbite fittings are a suggestion, not an included item. Each customer's application can be a little different, with copper, CPVC, PEX, etcetera so the Sharkbite fittings, if you are interested in that, would be something you can order online or possibly pick up at your local hardware store. But we do recommend them and using them can make an intimidating project much more in reach as a DIY project for more people (not already inclined to do that themselves). Eric with YoSmart **Q: Is ball valve lead free?? What material is it made out of?** A: This specific valve is does not actually meet current NSF61 standards. If it did, it would be marked as such by the manufacturer. It's made by a Chinese company that appears to use about 3% lead content in their brass valves. That's no problem at all for non-potable water, like irrigation, and it's better than the older US standard of 8%, but is not up to the latest US standards for "lead-free" pipes (less than 0.25%). Yolink also makes a stainless steel motorized valve that would be lead-free, or you could get their Bulldog valve and use it with a brass valve that you know is lead free. It allows me to shut down the water to my home if I get an alarm on my phone. It works great and we have tried it while away to see how efficient it is. Works wonderfully. Imagine coming home from vacation to a flooded home. With this small device which was very easy for me to install, if I get a notification to a leak I can shut down the water immediately. We also shut the water down when we go on vacation and this allows us to control that feature while leaving and upon returning without having to trek to the utility room.
