I've hardness tested two of the six chisels so far. The set I received (100cr-v steel listed) are 63.5 hardness. The grain is fine, and the chisels are neatly made. they're not perfectly flat, but the quality of the steel in the two I've tested heavily so far is as good as anything, very plain (what you want in a chisel) and sharpens like a dream to a crisp edge- the burr just floats away during the process.If you can think of a chisel made of A2 or V11 sold for $100, as chisels these are just as good.. but you'll need to reprofile the handles into the marples carver style if you don't want them to be bulky.A completely different animal than the 0.6% carbon stuff sold at aldi or harbor freight - they are legit. And legit in hardwood, not just a prissy test of some sort, but malleting in hardwood.

I bought these chisels because they look like the legendary and hard-to-find Aldi chisels which Paul Sellers praises. The quality seems good for 3 of the 4 chisels. All of the chisel backs seem to be flat or concave after a few passes over a coarse diamond plate. This is good. The handles are indeed hornbeam. This is also good. The blades seem to be heavier and thicker than some other budget chisels sold here. They seem to be more like firmer chisels and should hold up well to hammer blows. The not-so-good is that the handle of the 1 inch chisel is bent out of alignment with the blade, making it awkward to hold. Not sure if the tang is bent or the pilot hole was drilled out of parallel. If it not for this problem, the rating would be 5 stars.Update: I removed the handle from the blade (friction fit). There is a slight bend in the tang. I chiseled out a relief cut in the hole in the handle, reset the blade in the handle with epoxy and the handle is now aligned with the blade. Problem seems to be fixed.

I recently got into woodworking and these chisels have been amazing! I sharpen them on sandpaper every once in a while and it works like a charm. Working with these is almost therapeutic. They do include a carrying big bag in high quality which I appreciate so that I can try to keep them together. I'm not a big fan of ferrules on the striking end of the handle but these ferrules are substantial and functional rather than cosmetic. The handles have flats on them to help deter rolling.

This review is for the 6-piece set of bevel edge chisels made of 100CRV steel being sold November 2023.TLDR: Great steel that holds up as well as expensive chisels I own. Fine side bevels are good for sneaking into corners and dovetails. Takes several sharpenings to get them to really hold up well.These chisels really surprised me. They’re not just “good for the price.” They’re actually good. I tested them extensively, and put them above most of what you can buy on Amazon now. They run along side my Narex Richters.The down side: These appear to be factory seconds from a much more expensive tool line. A few handles were a bit crooked. One showed up with what appears to be the wrong ferrule for the blade size. The handles are also fairly large. If that bothers you, make some new handles and off you go.The first set was so good I bought a second set. The steel was just as good. The handles just a little funky too. That makes these a fantastic deal.

The blades on this are so well made with a 1 mm side flange you can make perfect pairing chisels for dovetails! The the bevels are cut just as good as any premium chisel. Only thing I didn't like was the thickness of the handles but that could be whittled down these are excellent chisels for the money. Finish on them are better than my Stanley 750s

the box is low quality, and the price is a bit expensive.
