Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales (Flame Tree Collectable Classics)

Buy it before it's banned
As other reviewers point out, this is not the version translated by Jack Zipes (but his work can still be found). The folk tales in Grimm's collection are beyond classic and give insight into human culture going back hundreds, if not thousands of years. As the publisher points out, the book may "cause offence" to "contemporary sensibilities" ... which is why it is such a relief to read.

A beautiful book to have on the shelf and one of, it not the, best translations available
In the 21st century, two of the most accurate and best translations of the Grimms' tales are by Ralph Manheim and Jack Zipes . The Zipes translation, currently in a third edition, includes extra fragments and earlier manuscripts...

Crease marks on the front cover.
I bought this book as a present for my son. Unfortunately, there are crease marks on the front cover which detract from the appearance of the book. These marks appear to be a manufacturing defect.

Not the original stories
First of all, this is not the original stories that were collected by the Grimms. These are the disneyfied versions, not the original stories. Secondly, the book is tiny. It's like a handheld. The print is very small and difficult to read. If you're looking for the original stories, look elsewhere. If you're looking for the Disney versions, you may want to buy one with text large enough to read.
