No blisters, little heavy, super comfortable
I've never had a hiking shoe or boot not give me blisters as they break in. Now, my trial run with these was 10 days at Disney and Universal, so it was not aggressive terrain. But, we averaged close to 10 miles a day. I packed an extra pair of shoes just in case, but I figured I could break these in on an easy trip like this. I expected to get hot spots and swap my other shoes in every other day. Well, I wore these the entire time. Way more comfortable than my running shoes. They're on the heavier side but they're extremely comfortable. You can barely feel the surface you're walking on. Since I've been back, I've been on one short hike. They're really comfortable. Great arch support and you can barely feel the rocks you're walking on. There is a little slip in the heal, but that's par for the course with a hiking shoe. Again, not so much slip that I developed any blisters in the heal or toe area. My guess is this because there is still enough flex in the shoe, even with a nice thick sole. The toe box is a little cramped, but I have wide feet. Either way it hasn't been an issue. When these wear out, I'll be buying another pair. Might just buy another now in case they stop making them. Really great shoe.

Good looking functional shoe
First time purchaser of this style. They look great and as far as I can see, are well made. The color is nice and they do go well with jeans. The toe box tends to run a bit tighter then other Merrell's I've worn before so keep that in mind. The rest of the shoe fits well and even the toe box does soften up a little after wearing.

Replacement of an old favorite
After a search for this style of shoe that Merrill put out years back, I was excited to find that someone out there still sold this style of shoe. Since I had a pair for about 15+ years, I wanted another pair because they fit comfortably on my feet, gave me the arch support that I needed and stood up to the many hiking trips that I had taken them on. After receiving this new pair, they fit just right like the old pair I had. I may end up ordering another pair as a back up but wish that they still had the many choices on colors. But these will do.

Runs smaller then Merrill’s other styles
These Merrell Men's Trekking Shoes run a full size smaller then the Accentor 3 and the Moab 3 styles.

Sizing is wrong, very good quality, but if it doesn't fit, it ain't no use
The quality of the shoes appeared to be excellent, and their design makes it very flexible as to when you can wear them - they should be good walking / hiking shoes and appearance wise, it definitely meets smart casual and probably business casual standards depending on the color you choose (mine were dark earth). But the sizing is way off - I normally wear a size 11.5 in Merrells and my foot is a standard width in most shoes. I ordered the size 12 but they were way too tight across the ball area of the foot (sideways and on top) and my toes pushed tightly into the front of the shoe as soon as I took a few steps. If you have narrow feet and get a (full?) size up from normal, these will probably work for you, but otherwise I would steer well clear of them. Which is a pity as they are otherwise well designed and made. Other reviews attest to their comfort if they fit, and plenty of reviewers warned about them being too small. I took a chance on a larger size and still found them unwearable. I might try a size 13 but I haven't seen any of those in this model shoe and the dark earth color I want, and I suspect the size 13 would fix the length problem but not the width problem. I am returning them tomorrow for a refund. It is annoying to have to mess with the product return when the shoes are listed, clearly wrongly, and fit = normal size. Amazon should correct this given the number of reviewers who have said they are smaller than the sizes claimed.

Soft Shoe?
At first I wasn't sure about the fit. I thought I purchased a half size too small and I did not wear too much. Eventually they got worked in. It's strange because I have a different pair of Merrell Moab 3 that I purchased many years ago that fit immediately. While I like this shoe I'm not sure I would purchase again - at least not online. I'd want to make sure I have the right ones. But overall as a shoe they feel more squishy/soft. I love my Moab 3 because they are comfortable firm/solid. I've actually done a lot of jogging in them so they are versatile. The Intercept is considered a trail shoe as opposed to a hiking shoe. Next time I may go back to a hiking shoe.
