Perfect fit!
Bought this for my 2007 FJ cruiser. the fit and quality is perfect. installation CAN be done with one person but a sencond person might have made it a bit easier. All the hardware needed is included with this kit and there is no modification needed to the vehicle aside from removing the factory receiver.

Great hitch; easy install
I installed this on a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It is pretty much a 'bolt on' process; I was able to do it solo without too much trouble (if you can hold up 25-30 lbs with one arm, you'll be able to do the same). My biggest problem was getting the factory tow 'loop' off.The only tricky part of the install is the step that requires you to wire-fish two 7/16 carriage bolts through a square spacer. Your mileage may vary, but I found that the fish-wire method was actually more difficult than simply using a magnet to pull the bolt through. Unless you have very thick fingers, you shouldn't have any problem getting the square spacer into place. Rare-earth magnets (like you can commonly get in stores now for super-strong fridge magnets) work very well for this. The one bolt I tried to do their way slipped out and I had a bit of fun locating it and bringing it back to where I could grab it. The one I did 'wrong' was a piece of cake.. That said, the above fish-wire part may not apply to your vehicle. This being my first hitch install, I have no idea how common it is.But that last bit says it all.. This was my first ever hitch install and I had the thing on by myself in less than an hour. Two days later it proved its mettle, hooked to a tow-strap/airplane towing cable combination as it pulled over a shed.. No problems at all.I do recommend a hitch cover though as the mount sticks out further than I expected on my vehicle and one could easily bang their shin/knee into it..

Very Pleased. Perfect for 2011 FJ
OK, first this thing is a tank and fit my 2011 FJ Crusier perfectly. In case it's not clear this is designed exclusively for the FJ. You can check it out on Curt's site. OK, now for my tips on install. I understand why the other reviews highlighted the tow hook removal but if you just know you'll need a breaker bar going into it then it's really not hard at all. If you don't have one someone you know will because it's a fairly common tool. So for me the hardest parts were removing the exhaust hanger from the dual rods. The instructions weren't helpful in that regard. I sprayed the rods/rubber hanger with PAM (don't get on exhaust pipe) and then just pulled it off with considerable effort by hand. I'm stubborn and inpatient so rather than wait for a friend to help hold the receiver up I had to balance/lift the whole thing myself to get the first side loosely bolted in which was very tough but doable (i'm 6'4'' 200lbs). If you're not OCD get a buddy to crawl under to help you. Other than that it was pretty simple. I could not be more happy with the receiver.

Does not fit my 2014 FJ Cruiser even though Amazon vehicle fitment guides said it should.
After getting a couple bolts loosely fit on one side, the bolts on the other side don't line up with the holes in the receiver. In the first photo you can see that the new hitch receiver is not as wide as the previous one that I am having to replace. You can even see that the bolt that goes through the frame is off by an entire bolt width in the second photo!Update: returned for a replacement, and the replacement didn't line up either! I ended up just drilling and making the bolt holes wider so they line up. Nobody should have to do so much work to make something that "fits" fit

Should have fit
Box is heavily damaged when arrived but probably expected for the wait and size. Quality products but to me it look like it was probably used because of how banged up it was. The driver side back to holes did not fit by a quarter inch had to pull off redrill and ream. 100%, the whole pattern was just off unfortunately. Probably one of those things that happens I didn't send it back I just modified it and made it work. It does come with the mounting hardware and the fish Hook.

Great unit.
Great unit...fantastic price...easy to install ! I have a 2007 FJ (and a 2017 hitch install) which I began using penetrating lubricant on the tow hook a few days prior to hitch install to loosen it. I could not budge it with my standard sockets; ultimately, I needed to put an pneumatic air impact wrench to it. Other than that, install was a breeze! Also recommend WD40'ing all the bolts and holes while running all the bolts in by hand or light socket prior to hitch install to ensure proper threading reducing risk of cross threading or stripping. Enjoy!

Good and sturdy receiver, however did not quite match up with the existing pre drilled factory frame holes and I had to spread it with a bottle Jack to get it to match up. Otherwise this would be a 5 star rating.

perfect fit will reccomend to anyone.
this was an easy install only took me about 45 minutes. im not sure why so many people say the fish wire is so much harder as i had no issue with it what so ever nd the exhaust hanger slipped right off with a quick squirt of pb blaster right on the rubber mount. i only had to remove one exhaust hanger though just because it makes it easier to trhread bolts in, aso by only freeing up one hanger at the back of the car ou can rest the passenger side of the hitch on the tail pipe and get the bolts started in the drivers side. and once all the bolts are started its a matter of tightening them and torqueing them to the specs provided with the hitch. my only complaint is the box it comes in, i have nowhere to put it untill after my garbage man runs!
