Don’t wait for a curveball in your life to get this book!
I believe this book is entirely necessary, particularly during post pandemic times when addiction and suicide is at an all time high. George and Brit open up with raw honest conversation surrounding the topic. It starts with his incredibly difficult upbringing and loss of siblings and continues with many personal experiences and a unique humble eye opening perspective. I too am convinced that “any one of us could be only two to three choices away from a life of complete self-destruction.”George is one of those spiritual leaders who is “relentless in pursuit of connection with the broken, the hurting, the angry, and the afraid.” He strongly urges church leaders and mental health professionals to do the same…no lables, no stigma, just love, seeking God, and honest conversations that can lead to a hopeful and abundant life.As I read this book, which has been completely captivating, I can see how it is really written for everyone. We’re all in some sort of recovery. We also may know someone who may be who we may be able to “walk alongside” because “Transformation can only be birthed out of authentic, loving relationships.”As someone who had experienced some amount of self destruction in my early years and lost loved ones to suicide, this book has been extremely valuable to me. It’s relatable in a way that made me feel less isolated in my beliefs surrounding this difficult topic, surrounding Christianity and above all it is hopeful and inspiring. It’s an important reference to have in your library and my suggestion is…please don’t wait until you have a curveball in your life to read it.

One of if not THE the best books regarding addiction recovery
Don’t wait to hear my final review. Been reading the digital copy I got with my preorder and guys you need it order this like yesterday. Especially pastors and those leading recovery groups. This is by far the only material I have heard of that deals directly with the root issue of addiction and that is identity. 12 step programs will have you identify as your problem “hi my name is Steve and I am an _________” and keep you believing you can never be rid of it. Uncovery gives the voice that it is a problem that you can be healed of and set free from permanently. You don’t want to just live as a sober alcoholic when there is an option to live in the promise land of freedom that shows you who you are as a mighty child of God that is made in righteousness and true holiness! So those of you who are suffering from emotional trauma or addictions, you are not alone and you need not be ashamed to reach out for help. But know also that you can be free and live an amazing transformed life :)So stop reading my review and order like a dozen copies so you can pass them onto friends who are in bondage :)Now ima keep reading my digital copy till the paper back arrives!

LIfe changing!
I was fortunate to receive and read one of the author copies of Uncovery a few weeks ago.I was especially moved by what was said and how well it was written. This area is not one I have read much about, but it got my attention right away. The stories of how people have gone from recovered to totally transformed was captivating. I had always thought a transformation like that was certainly possible but have not heard of many cases where a person was completely changed from an addict to a transformed child of God. It was also poignant to read of those cases where some regressed. The honesty of the book captured my attention right away. Both George and Brit poignantly and honestly related details of some of their own struggles.I urge everyone to get this book, read it and let it change you. It will be especially valuable for pastors, churches, and other support groups that exist for this reason. It will give you a new perspective on what our great God is capable of.

Where Has This Been!
This book is a book the church has needed for a long time coming. We have often left out the soul and body side of conversation, but without healing in the body and soul, we are missing whole components of whole person healing that can then be passed on for generations to come. Brit and George hit the nail on the head here. It’s well worth the money!!

Insightful, Serious, and Sincere!
The Uncovering is a very insightful piece that truly addresses serious subjects like addiction and trauma. Through their writings, George and Brit express a sincere belief in both people and in God.One of the most courageous topics detailed in the book is “Microaggression Meets Christian Nationalism”. Be prepared to learn about serious and “real” situations in this powerful and empowering read.R. Coles, M.S., Stanford University
