My main purpose is to connect speakers that already have some leads on them with extra speaker wire. With these wire nuts; no more trying to desolder or cutting off old leads that can't be used. An example of this is two speaker baffles from Radio Shack. Eventually I am going to connect them to a console stereo as external speakers and the wire nuts will make the job extremely easy. Another example is using a sound system to play Christmas music outside. I have two outdoor speakers that also have leads attached and pre-stripped ready to connect. The wire nuts again will make the job extremely easy and plus the connections will be protected from the weather. The yellow wire nuts I had already but they were too big for the speaker wire used so they kept falling off.
