What a difference a smart thermostat makes
I upgraded from an ancient Honeywell dumb thermostat (only displayed Celsius). Wow, what a difference. I added 2 sensors since the thermostat is in a less traveled room. Set-up couldn't have been easier (very Apple-esque). The sensors report patterns of habitation and adjust the temp accordingly. The main unit looks great, very modern and sleek. iOS app is excellent as is the web portal.Installation tip (DIY'er, use at your own risk): I have a simple single stage AC, furnace. On the furnace, locate the control board. Focus on the wires that come from the thermostat (usually 4 wires - R, W, Y, G). If you are lucky, there will be 5 wires (one plugged into the C terminal - common). Ignore any other wires (I had 2, R and W which came from the AC unit and shared connections on the furnace board). Look for any extra wires which are part of the thermostat bundle that are unused (if you don't already have a common wire connected). The thermostat wire is a lot like a Cat 5 wire with multiple sub-wires of various colors, some unused). Pick one that is unused at the furnace and unused at the thermostat. Plug it into the common "C" port on the furnace and then into the C port on the thermostat. Instant "common" connection (this powers the unit rather than relying on batteries). Plug in the rest of the wires on the thermostat as directed by instructions on the ecobee site (usually straightforward, red to red etc). Done! If you don't have a common or any other unused wires in the bundle, you will need to use the adapter that comes with the thermostat. Also pretty straightforward (the adapter pulls power from the common connection and feeds it to the thermostat from the other, non-common wires). Very pleased. Great system.

Slightly annoying to install
If you know what you’re getting into, installing this thermostat isn’t too difficult at all. I have a Goodman AC system from 2022 and this turned into a several hour long installation because my wiring isn’t as simple as the installation videos online make it seem. The common wire is required to power this device. Not Ecobee’s fault. Connecting to WiFi was extremely easy, Ecobee has a nice step by step setup guide directly in the unit and app. The builtin features like RH and local weather are really helpful, but the power saving features are my favorite. Easy to link to Apple HomeKit home app. This item has a nice modern look. RH seems fairly accurate +/-5°F. Totally worth every penny!

It save us tons $$$
We absolutely adore our Ecobee thermostat! Despite initial fears, the installation was a breeze, thanks to the clear instructions provided. It's not only user-friendly but also a money-saver, optimizing our home's temperature without breaking the bank. When we encountered an issue with our AC unit being accidentally bumped and shutting down, the Ecobee support team was phenomenal. Their kind and patient guidance, coupled with the thermostat's ability to send detailed data about the issue, allowed us to quickly resolve the problem. The outstanding customer support truly sets Ecobee apart, making it an invaluable addition to our home.

Not so easy.
Maybe it's me, but I thought it was needlessly irritating to install. The wiring was quite straightforward. After that the irritations started. The base/trim plates were not marked what was up. So I managed to install the trim plate upside down. Easy to correct, but irritating to sort out.Next were the basic instructions. None we're on the app, nor anywhere else I could find online. After exploring it for at least an hour, I sorted out the basic functions fairly well. Only after that did I think to look at YouTube, where I found an excellent video, but not from the manufacturer. Why couldn't Ecobee have prepared one? Adding insult to injury, after everything was finished I get a notification on the unit that says it has been registered and here is how you set the temperatures. I think I figured out the features I want, which is maybe 20% of what's there. I seriously question, however, whether I would recommend this unit to anybody else.

Great energy saver
I have 2 of these units. They work wonderfully. They are easy to program and easy to override if necessary. I also like the vacation setting. The phone app is very easy to use as well. I have used their tech support and they are great. Software update is done seamlessly over the internet as well. Highly recommend this brand.
