Leave it up to the video card to toss a wrench in the plan... My card has twin 6-pin plugs for auxiliary power, of course facing straight off the "top" of the card toward to side of the case. I had tried several different wiring tactics to best "de-ugly" the pair of PCI-E cables going to the middle of my build. But no matter what I tried, it was still fugly. THEN I found these 6-pin PCI-E cable adapters designed for video cards. They come as a pair, one piece of each made to flip the cable "up" and over the card (marked "STD"), and one to send it down and under (marked RVS for reverse). My GPU, being a dual-slot card, needed the STD version. But my card also has TWO 6-pin plugs, so I needed TWO of the STD adapters, meaning I had to buy TWO of these sets - so make sure you plan and order correctly. These 180-degree adapters did exactly what I needed them to do - cleanly get the cables going back toward the motherboard. And I had bought some nice PCI-E extension cables to complete clean and subtle look. The adapters are plastic, but have a clean looking beveled "cap" on then, so they look great in my system. They plug in securely with no issues. Once plugged in, there’s about 5mm of clearance over the back of the GPU card, so if you have a backplate, you’ll have room, though not for a really thick one.
