## Description

Tetra has been revolutionizing and improving fish nutrition since the company’s birth in Germany in 1951. Since that time, Tetra has developed one of the most comprehensive bodies of fish food knowledge in the world. Never fear traveling and leaving your pet fish while you’re on vacation. Tetra’s Weekend Slow Release Tropical Feeder Fish Food feeds a fish up to 14 days per block. The unique, gel formula is plaster free. Packed with Tetra’s ProCare formula these gel blocks are highly nutritious and will keep your fish full and satisfied for just under a week. Not only are they nutritious the Tetra Weekend Slow Release Food Blocks do not cloud your aquarium’s water. These blocks are best suited for tropical fish and contain the ingredients that your fish needs to stay healthy and full while you and your family are travelling. If the blocks are not fully consumed when you return it is safe to leave them in the aquarium.

Review: Would buy again - I was going on a couple weekend trips in a row so I bought one for my 10 gallon tank. The tank is home to four guppies and three neon tetras and the fish all seem to like it. The guppies tend to eat at the surface and the tetras around mid tank level so I put it on top of some decoration around mid height. I’ve seen both species eat from it so I’m very pleased. I like it better than the extended releasing feeders already. My snails like it too much however! The greedy little things have been moving it around and I swear one of them hasn’t left the brick for a day! If you have mystery snails I would recommend finding a way to keep the block out of their reach. I figure with my thieving snails that it won’t last the full 14 days (by no fault of the manufacturer!) so plan accordingly.
Review: Works - Kept our fish alive while we were on vacation!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I cut this in half and give each half to a betta and expect it to last a week?**
A: I think so. I put a while one in my 10 gallon with 5 betta sized fish and it lasted 2-3 weeks.

**Q: Can this be cut smaller? I have a small 3 gallon tank with one fish. Can I cut this into 1/4 and only drop 1/4 of it at a time?**
A: Thank you for your interest in this Tetra product R Queen! Yes, you can cut it into four quarters, and use just 1/4, in fact we highly recommend that in these smaller tanks. Keep the packaging, and aluminum for the date codes, and store it in a Ziploc back in your refrigerator for up to one month after opening it for the remaining portion. Please note that this food does NOT release on its own, many customers misunderstand the purpose of this block. The fish must swim to it to nibble on it. Therefore, one fish will not make a big dent in a whole block. Also, some tips customers have provided us regarding going away and leaving their fish include doing a partial water change a couple of days prior to leaving, and breaking a small piece off of this food and crumbling it for one or two meals before leaving as well. This helps the fish to understand this is their new food source. Should you need more personalized assistance, please don't hesitate to email me at PHGAmazon@spectrumbrands.com.

**Q: would this work for African Dwarf Frogs?**
A: It would, if it worked at all. The fact is, when I came back after five days, the block had not dissolved, so basically my fish had gone five days without food.

**Q: Does anyone actually have experience of their Betta eating this?**
A: Bettas can be picky eaters. If you need to use this while out of town, break some tiny pieces off and feed it with the regular food for a few days prior to trying the block. Then a couple of days prior to leaving, break a piece off and let it drift down to see if he follows it. Watch him for a couple of days to see if he'll nibble on it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works
*by M***N on August 14, 2026*

Kept our fish alive while we were on vacation!

### ⭐ Very disappointing experience
*by N***E on June 19, 2022*

I bought 2 five day tablets to do a trial run in each of my 2 tanks. They were put into the tanks the day after a detailed cleaning. On day 2, I was left with 2 cloudy tanks the morning after dropping the tablets in them! Also, the fish were almost entirely disinterested in the tablets (I have guppies, tetras, snails, glo-fish and rasboras). By day 3 both food tablets were showing fungal growth which became worse with each passing day and acted as a barrier to the fish actually accessing the tablet! Another reviewer on this page who took pictures of his tablet actually shows the fungal growth (it starts off as a whitish mound) in his tank Only the snails in my tanks seemed interested in feeding on the tablets but I noticed one snail that was eating it keeled over & died post feeding not 1/4" away from the tablet!. Simply put, it was a disappointing experience and I will have to seek another solution to finding a way to feed my fish while on vacation. I was hopeful that this product would work. Frankly, I am surprised that some folks here have anything positive to report about these food tablets! Nevertheless, the negative reviews all say the same thing: cloudy water and many fish don't go for it.
