I would get 2 - you want to be sure that you properly break up the pattern repeat. If you don't break up the repeat, you could spoil the illusion of it being a real bookshelf.

Is this renter friendly?

If you mean, can you take it down when you leave, not really no. Like all wallpaper, it's meant to stick to the wall and stay there. You might want to consider using some luan or skin-plywood - apply the wallpaper to that, then attach the luan/wallpaper to the wall. You would need to fill the holes where the luan/wallpaper was attached, just like any holes in the wall when you leave a rental. ***I have not personally done this, with this wallpaper. It is just an idea***
