Smells fantastic & tastes beautiful in the Moroccan stew I made!

I have a sensitive stomach and cannot eat any hot spices, hot pepper, etc, but I wanted to try this spice mix because I make a veg stew for cous cous, and I wanted to spice it up a bit. So, I looked at all the ingredients of the other brands and chose this one because it only had black pepper added. It had no red pepper or Cayenne. I chose the right one. I used it sparingly in my stew, but still got a lot of flavor and not a hint of pepper or any hot spice. Very mild and very delicious. Very fresh too.

I had never heard of ras el hanout until I wanted to make a recipe that called for it. After some searching, I discovered that different recipes exist with varying proportions of the same ingredients: cumin, ginger, salt, cinnamon, ground coriander, cayenne, allspice, and cloves. Sometimes you see nutmeg, turmeric, and cardamon added. Although I had most of the spices in my cupboard, I wasn't sure which recipe would work best, so I decided to go with this pre-mixed version instead. I was disappointed that this The Spice Way blend doesn't contain any cayenne. Still, the flavor it lends is complex, even without the cayenne. Next time, though, I will add cayenne separately, just because every recipe I found for ras el hanout contains it. I like that it comes in a resealable bag to preserve freshness. I love the flavor and will seek out more recipes that contain this particular spice blend. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Very good product!

The seasoning’s blend was a good blend of spices and complimented my new Mediterranean chicken dish. My family loved it and using the spice on the vegetables in the recipe was an added plus!

This was a hard spice to find locally. Easy to order on Amazon. Product was well packaged and added the right flavor to the recipe.
