For my three gallon brackish bowl, I decided to take a chance on it. I am not the least bit disappointed. Based on reviews, I thought I would have to have it on something like 14 hours and at full intensity, but I was growing way more algae than I needed. I put it at the lowest intensity, and decided even then, that 12 hours was way too long to have it on. I currently have it on for 10 hours and may raise it higher than 4" above the water. My complains: At $129.00, the gooseneck (which has cheap plastic screws, that I'll probably replace with real ones from Home Depot) should've been included. There is no shimmer that I've noticed. Being that I keep it at the lowest intensity and the color set at yellow, I don't see a point to the Spectral Controller when a regular timer works just fine. I like the form factor. I really wish I didn't have to purchase the goose neck but honestly It was my only option for mounting this thing. I have a mounted to a 7.5 gallon rimless tank with C02. So far my plants are growing but I did notice that they tend not to pearl when I use the gooseneck so instead I mounted the gooseneck to the table and the light sits about 2 inches from the waterline.
