Feeder Fresh Bird Feeder and Seed Protector, Keep Seed Dry and Fresh, 16 oz

Amazing for tube and hopper feeders that are already somewhat protected from rain but still prone to getting wet I've had this in my hopper feeder of sunflower chips for about 2 weeks and there has been no moisture, no caking, and no spoilage. I also have this in a tube feeder and it has also been keeping things nice and dry. I tried this in a mesh feeder that was a little less protected and it did keep the seed more dry than it ordinarily would. However the crystals turned yellow and the "no grow" safflower seeds that were in contact with the crystals started sprouting, kind of interesting. I don't count that against this product as it isn't designed for that kind of feeder. It is kind of expensive, but for the performance in my hopper feeder alone I would absolutely repurchase.

I mixed this product in with seed (safflower, nyjer, sunflower) for two different feeders. One is a hopper feeder and the other is a tube feeders. I didn't realize it was going to be raining on and off for the next two days, and I thought I had just wasted and ruined the seed by putting it out before the rain storms. I thought there was no way any product could hold up against thunderstorms... I was wrong! After a day without rain, I went and checked the feeders. Everything was dry! Nothing was packed or wet at all, not even in the trough of the hopper feeder where water tends to not drain well. I am amazed! I'm so glad I tried this product.

This is a necessary staple for protecting your birds as well as your tube feeders and their contents. The amount required depends on how much space there is between the inside base of the tube feeder and the bottom of lowest feeder port openings. It is long lasting as you only use a small amount in each time you fill. It not only protects your birds' health by preventing moldy seeds in case of rain, but also can eliminate the need to scrub out the feeder between each fill. Your birds will thank you!!!

I bought this on amazon when my local birdshop ran out. I used it as they recommended; sort of make a parfait of birdseed alternating with the Feeder Fresh in my cylinder style feeders. As promised, it didn't harm the birds, they just spit it out and keep coming back for seed. Thing is, i live in a place where it rains non stop from Late November - January. I refill the feeder once a week and replace it with feeder fresh every time. That works well in the less rainy months Feb-June, but no matter how clean the feeder is, it's just too easily overwhelmed with mold in the relentless rain months. Had to switch to seed cakes and suet until the rainy season is less come May. It does work, it doesn't bother the birds, it just has limitations in constant wetness for months.

I live in the Florida panhandle. 6 months of the year it is HOT and HUMID every single day. I have been buying this stuff for 4 years now, and I highly recommend it to all bird enthusiasts. It works great! I use it for a window feeder. Yes it is pricey, however, one bag lasts a long while. I deep clean the feeder, put a good, thick layer of this stuff at the bottom of the tray, and then pile seed on it. Everything stays dry for several weeks.

Nothing wrong with it just not sure how much it helps keep my bird feeder less likely to get gross and clumpy.

Works to eliminate mold in bird feeders very well -- better than expected. Can use small amount. I haven't had to scrape out mold since starting to use this some months ago. It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
