The Laundress New York- All-purpose Bleach Alternative, Unscented, 33.3 Fl Oz

I went to get my hair dyed. My hair is several inches under my waist, so of course the hairdresser put me in a partial cape (significantly shorter than waist length) and managed to not even get that right. As I’m leaving, she says “oh, you got a little dye on your shirt. Yes, a bit. I had a thick 4.5” stain at the top and 2 4” stains, equally thick, at the bottom. Plus dots and small lines here and there. Even when she took off the cape and my hair was supposedly done. There was dye to further ruin the shirt.Why you needed to know all that? Because the laundress saved my BRAND NEW shirt. It took some elbow grease and 3 days (I was busy, you know, living), but it worked. Everyone said to just throw it out but I decided to give it a shot.It was dry. Over 12 hours dry. I put 2 capfuls of the bleach alternative in warm water in a small tub. Created a paste with the bleach alternative and the stain solution. Brushed it in with the stain brush. Did that for a bit, then hand scrubbed (the old fashioned way). Soaked in the warm water for several hours. Threw out the water and started again. I changed the water 5 times, and scrubbed 6 (over 3 days; might have been less if I had had the time to focus on it). Then I threw it in the wash alone with 2 more caps of the bleach alternative for good measure.The big stain at the top is not visible. The lower stains are visible but they were darker. Since my hair covers the whole back of my shirt, it’s not a big deal for me. But with my hair up, it looks like I leaned on something and got dirty. And only if you’re looking for it. All the other small stains disappeared on their own.Everyone who said to just throw it away have been baffled. If it can get brown, dried in hair dye off thick white Jersey fabric, it can do anything. It got off the yellowing on my white towels, caused by actual bleach.All that and many other loads and I still have over 80% of the bottle.I’m now a fan and have bought practically the whole line of products. Every time I’m surprised. Soft, supple, unwrinkled jeans right out of the dryer without fabric softener. Supper fluffy towels. Each product does a different, even if similar job, and they all deliver.I have never written a review this long. That’s how happy I am.

I mostly have been using this on clothing I’ve stained with food or blood (period stains are the worst!) and it leaves the clothes stainless.I’m very happy I purchased this based on reading the reviews and high ratings.It works well if you start with soaking the clothing in hot water then squeezingthe water away then using a spoon or two depending on the size of the stain to cover it with the powder. Check on it in the next 30-60 minutes and it should be gone! You can scrub it with their brush or something else immediately but it takes scrubbing and rinsing.I hope my experience helps!

There is nothing wrong with this product, I read a review where the user claimed to have written this company and heard it was not an authorized seller because it was not listed under box stores. I wrote the company and asked about that claim. You can rest assured that there is no “scam.” Most of the time, bleach alternative has to be dissolved in very hot water first, then cold water added to make the temp right for the fabric type. Most laundry gurus will tell you that it CAN take a day or more soaking to get out stains. And yes, the grains are hard to dissolve. It takes patience to use it. But it is wellworth it. Fruit juice stains go away with longer soaking. And I use it when I accidentally wash acolored item that bleeds all over the others. Butit can take repeated soakings over many hoursor even days. Be patient.

I really like this product. It is easy to use and doesn’t have a harsh scent like liquid bleach. It’s easier to use than liquid bleach; easy to clean up if spilled and blends well when mixed with water. Great cleaning agent and gets out tough stains.

This stuff is absolutely incredible! When paired with the stain remover liquid spot cleaning and soaking in warm water for almost a day, it fully took out both a mold stain in a shirt that had gone through the dryer, and a baked in stain (which happened by accident leaving a towel in an oven I thought was off 🤦‍♀️). The scent is completely unnoticeable, though, sometimes when air-dried, it makes the fabric smell like fresh linen. Such a great product line! Very pleased with purchase, and will be continuing to buy as I have a little one to clean up after!

I had bought this at “The Container Store” appx. 1-2 yrs. ago. Recently went back for more was told they longer sold it. I haven’t ever used a non bleach before then. I love this product it brightens any item I seem to use it on. It’s a crystal so I mix it first in a bowl with hot water & pour it into a cold water wash. Some may not like to take the effort in cold washes, but the results are amazing to me !

I have been using this detergent since it first became available and I love it. It is very concentrated and I use less than their recommendation. It took me a while to get used to the scent but now it reminds me of laundry dried in the fresh air. Highly recommend!

I will definitely buy it again. I bought the whole line products of laundress.I personally like this one and cashmere wash. Unlike other bleach I used before,this one does not hurt the clothing at all,and you can also use it to bleach the colorful one.the clothing will clean and soft after use it.

I’ve been using this product for a few weeks and I’ve found it’s been working so great on my white clothes! Keeps them nice and bright but doesn’t cause damage.

I want this to be re-stocked so I can order again.It's amazing.
