Silence that running toilet
Plumber said it was easy to install this new piece and now the toilet no longer has that running noise all the time! Working very well.

From an experienced plumber...
Buy this entire assembly (1072320) rather than replace the valve seal washer/flapper (1131496). I tried replacing just the seal and it started leaking again within a couple months. Something else in the assembly must have been failing to assist in creating a good seal and I could not seem to make an adjustment that helped. The new assembly also comes with a replacement gasket for the bottom where the flush valve attached to the tank. That part is not sold individually and is likely pretty corroded by now. For the same reason, you should probably also purchase a new tank/bowl gasket (1032265) which is sold separately. The new flush valve was slightly different where the fill tube connects and it comes in a Kohler box with instructions for Geberit and Sterling models, but it was indeed the right replacement for my Sterling Rockton model.Would give it 5 stars, but overall, I am fed up and disappointed with Kohler. Their so-called "lifetime" warranty is full of loopholes, and their engineering has gotten overly complicated and impractical. After being a big fan for twenty years, I would buy Toto over Kohler hands down. Japanese toilet technology is light years ahead and Toto basically invented the bidet/washlet.

Perfect replacement for the mechanism in my Kohler Sterling Unit
This turned out to be an exact replacement for the part in my Sterling toilet that I purchased approximately 10 years ago. Easy install, but you should also buy a new tank/bowl gasket (1032265) which is sold separately. This was recommended in another review (titled "From an experienced plumber), and his advice to buy that additional gasket saved me a huge headache. This part was manufactured by the same supplier as the original part (Geberit). I still have the original instructions from my purchase 10 years ago, and it's exactly the same. The negative review that shows pictures and calls it "some crap" is misleading and uninformed (unless they bought the wrong part)

Easy to use and a perfect fit
I struggled with a leaky toilet for months, and this was easier than ever to replace. I just unclipped the existing "cartridge" and inserted the new one. It came with a lot of additional pieces, but the main cartridge itself was sufficient.

not for the DIY type
have a Kohler toilet and this replacement does fit, however, since I am dealing with a dual flush where the tank is bolted to the main toilet, you have to unbolt the entire tank to replace this part -- get a plumber or purchase a single flush toilet -- in the future, I will only purchase single flush -- not worth the hassle if you have to replace parts and not only is the part expensive but the plumber would be another $100+ -- not worth it and too difficult for a DIY type and I have done a lot of work myself so do not consider myself an "amateur".

Had to be replaced, but the cost is ridiculous.
Kohler has a tremendous racket going with these flush valves. I've replaced 2 of these in toilets in our home. Under the guise of being better for the environment, a $2 flapper and chain has been replaced by a $50+ piece of space age plastic. That's no bueno.
