Very nice
Just what I needed for home-school with my soon to be 4th grader. He loves it. Colorful and the print that is easy to read.

Perfect as Vocabulary Builder
I don't use it as reference to look-up synonyms. That can easily be done online or by using a more comprehensive thesaurus. I asked my 7-year old daughter to read the book entry by entry to expand her writing vocabulary. She already knows most of the words. Now she has an aid to organize and learn the nuance of the words, as each synonym also comes with its own explanation. On the other hand, many other thesauruses only list synomyms without any explanation. With each root word, there are only a few synonyms, so it's not overwhelming and perfect for browsing without getting tired quickly.

a must!
Its a must book for any pre-k/k/1/2 graders (your mileage can vary). However, it is up to you, parents, to have your kids to use this book. If your precious asks you for a word definition - don't just tell them, send them to look it up in the book, you know, like "...give them a fish/teach them fishing..." story. This thesaurus has enough definitions and based on my humble opinion - a must!

A Thesaurus Kids Can Relate To
I like the font of this thesaurus. The font is reasonably big so that children can follow along - not like regular thesauruses that even I find difficult to read for long. What I didn't like was that the pictures were not that interesting. Often the drawings had very little to do with the text and was just an additive to, I guess, make the page pretty. Kids need to read something that attracts them, that keeps their attention, and pictures always do that.It is hardcover and has many, many words that are given and replaced with and so I do like the book. It is just a little below what I expected from scholastic books. For the money, however, I find that it is a great buy!

Look for those "juicy" words for writing!
These are a good level for my Firsties. We have fun making a game looking for "juicy" words! Another good tool for teaching the abc order concepts, also. Public school had torn and tattered books, so I bought my own set!

Great!!!!
I love this book. It really helps my daughter understand the meaning of a lot of word. We started with A and went from there. Each day we add another word. Very colorful and great to watch her learn new words!

For young writers and readers
Great for young writers and readers. Use thesaurus to help youngsters understand new words. They will find a word they know and see new word in a sentence helping them get a better understanding of vocabulary.
