It works flawlessly.
I read the reviews, the good and the bad. For reference the photo has a lightning cable (OEM Apple charging cable) in white and this audio cable in black. It is indeed pretty thin, but as an old timer who remembers the way back days of wired headphones (lol sarcasm) it’s pretty typical of wired headphone cords.I ordered this to use my AirPods Max with my Steam Deck during flights. After way too many hours in /r and trying to get my headphones to work via Bluetooth and failing, I gave up and went for the cable. At $30 it was worth it for me, they plug right in and work great, flawlessly even. The sound quality is good, I don’t notice any real difference. As far as durability goes I’m not overly concerned. The cable will live in my case except during flights.

Works with AirPod Pros
unfortunately this is the only cord that will work for the airpod pros. It does work great and i have tested many others! very expensive for a silly cord but it does work! it’s pretty long too, i think around 4 feet.

Thin but durable.
Worked as expected. Cable feels flimsy but is more durable than you’d think.

Oh the humanity
This is a VERY flimsy cable. Apple should not be putting their name on this, let alone their price tag. 30$ for this is a total joke. Even for Apple and their ridiculous prices (that I have religiously paid like a sucker for nearly 20 years) this is a new low. Sure it works as described - but it feels like some flimsy cheap garbage you'd find on Wish.com for under a buck. I've already returned mine. FYI I bought this cable for a new pair of Beats Solo Pro headphones, which are fantastic for listening to music (opposed music production, which they're terrible for). I needed Bluetooth headphones that could be wired when batteries were low. It took me forever to find this info; which Beats work wired w/o using battery power or BT etc., and the Beats Solo Pro do just that...but this crappy cable u gotta pay an extra 30$ for (like how do a pair of $400 headphones not come with the stupid proprietary cable that only works for them? INSANE. Anyway yes, those headphones need a 3.5mm to lightning cable, lightning side in the headphones, and if u want to use them wired in your iPhone - u have to use a lightning to 3.5mm adapter. I mean its that insane. Newer iphones don't have 3.5mm ports - which I'm all for - but the fact u can't get a lightning to lightning cable for to make Apples own products in 2021 is gonna make someone go postal someday. Just saying. The redundancy and the stupidity from a company that's all about design and simplicity - it's an obvious cash grab. Omg I can't believe I'm leaving a review like this on an Amazon listing if I had any shame I'd delete it now but I hope that this actually helps someone cuz I wasted hours on this dumb details and it was hard to find a clear answer in one place. Try and buy a higher quality 3.5mm/Lightning cable, and someone, for chrissakes, I mean seriously dear lord plz make a lightning/lightning cable for Apple/Beats headphones to plug into iOS devices

If you want to use Airpods Max with a Playstation or similar.
I got this cable to use with my PS5 controller audio output. It's kind of expensive, but worth it because the AirPods bluetooth isn't compatible with Sony's PS5. Ugh.

Poor sound quality!
I love my Apple headphones they fit perfect they’re comfortable the sound quality when used wireless is fantastic but those times when you need to use it corded and the fact that you have to buy their cord at $35 that seems to be very cheaply made the sound quality Holds little to be desired !!! this is the second one of these that I have purchased. I thought the first one may have been defective after using the second one. It’s obvious the sound Quality will not get any better. so be warned! It’s disappointing that a company like Apple would miss an important option on a high-quality product like a plug jack for a corded function🤷♂️
