A larger world, with a bigger plot.
Ooh, the plot thickens. This was an interesting departure from the last book in some ways. So many people in this novel are not who they appear to be, have hidden agendas and motives, and this one fleshes out the world and characters wonderfully, adding depth that was a bit lacking in the previous novel. Also, spies and traitors, spies and traitors everywhere. This was great, I'm really looking forward to the next one.

disappointed about swearing
This book is a big step up from the 1st one with much more action and much less side explanation. The story line is interesting, the action is gripping, and thr story flows well. I was HUGELY disappointed by the introduction of swearing in this book. None of the characters swore in last, and when they did suddenly in this one it was completely unnecessary and out of place.

Stealing Sorcery, an excellent read.
I loved this book. I thought the first book was excellent, showing a detailed world with a well thought out system of magic used by the characters of the books, the second book built on the first with a fast paced story building up more of the world which really captured my imagination. I sped through this book until I ran into the eventual ending which just left me with a "too soon!" feeling, I didn't want to stop reading and am currently looking forward to the release of the 3rd book.

I've enjoyed
I've enjoyed Andrew Rowe's books. They are clear and a easy read. Some fantasy tends to get overly involved and bogs down due to the overly complexity of their writing. This is more along the lines of Harry Potter or a retelling of a DnD campaign. It's thoroughly enjoyable because of it's straight forwardness. It's well written and thought out. I'd recommend this to any fantasy fan, especially young readers, but also to anyone else that reads lots of heavier fantasy like I do. Enjoy!

A good book in the series
This was a good book in the series. The plot and characters were well written and engaging. You see the growth of characters that appear in later books

A good mirror story
The story has several major characters. Therefore one needs time to get into the story and manage the different perspectives. Still a very entertaining and thrilling story

Really great sequel
I would rank this series against any of the classics by Jim Butcher or Brandon Sanderson. Really great world building, great character depth and plot lines are intertwined beautifully. Worth the read!!!

Brilliantly clever and captivating! Highly recommend.
I very much enjoyed this second book written by Andrew Rowe. A very much detective style story I felt but was very cleverly written and had an abundance of unique characters. I did feel lost as to who some of the characters were at certain stages of the book and had to glance further back to regain my awareness of who it was.The book focuses quite heavily on thought patterns and idea's that the characters is running through their minds, which I personally feel looses it's edge after some time, but it kept the story flowing well and made a nice match with the detective style story.I enjoyed the development of Taelien's progress with his sword and I hope to find out just what's going on with that! I felt the other two main characters Jonan and Lydia were portrayed slightly different to the first, but thus made them more vulnerable and more believable as a character. On a personal note, A particular part of this book did bring some raw emotion, which I haven't felt (and rarely get when reading) since read my very first trilogy of books almost ten years ago. Either way, I was almost unable to put this down (becoming late for work on a couple of occasions) and was a brilliant read.I would highly suggest this book to anyone with a liking of detective / mythical / sorcery style writing and I can't wait for the next in the set.

Based on rpg's
Still too obvious that the stories are based on rpgs. People don't think in internal monologues for the point of exposition and a better author would make reference to thoughts and feelings rather than just detailing painfully logical internal monologue (which sometimes has to take place in a fraction of a second).Story itself is interesting, hence three stars.

Better writing than book 1 but a far simpler plot
The book continues from Book 1 and we see progress for Taelian, Lydia, Jonan. A mysterious new character Vela's is introduced too.Book spends lots of time detailing the Trials of the protagonists to become a paladin at the cost of not moving overall plot further. Feels more like two linked standalone books rather than a proper sequel.Adds new plotlines while leaving the existing ones unattended.Still a good book to read. I'm interested enough to read Book 3 now.
