Q: How well would this helmet protect against falling rocks from above? Is it as strong as an industrial hard hat?

Compared to a hard hat, I’d think this helmet offers more protection. Of course, its safety depends upon the size of the rocks and the distance it falls.

Q: Is it possible to separate the plastic from the hardware/foam in order to change out the shell color or paint the shell?

The components of this helmet are not meant to be separated (with the exception of the foam comfort padding), and we cannot recommend any modifications to protective equipment.
