Germany is number one.
Started listening to Kreator way back in the 80s when I had cassette tapes of 'Endless Pain' and the 'Flag of Hate' E.P. and 'Pleasure to Kill' and would be cruising around in the car with some of my friends and put on one of the Kreator tapes and someone said "We like Slayer but can't stand the singer" and I remember saying "This isn't Slayer -- this is Kreator!" and telling them that ONE SONG by Kreator was better than a whole album from Slayer. I bought every Kreator album that came out and remember their great videos on MTVs Headbanger's Ball. I remember 'Cause for Conflict' and 'Scenarios of Violence' and then, sadly I lost touch with music for a long time. It was around the time my father died unexpectedly and I was devastated. Many years went by and I saw some new videos by Kreator on YouTube and thought, 'Man, I used to love that group!' and decided to look them up. What I found was that not only were they still around, they were better than ever. I was blown away by the song 'Violent Revolution' and began replacing all my old favorite Kreator C.D.s like 'Coma of Souls' and ordered the newer ones as well. Hate Uber Alles is nothing short of spectacular. The first couple of songs were so fast it was stupefying, and then with 'Crush the Tyrants' they slowed down a bit to a steady, head-banging pace. Probably my favorite song on there, along with 'Conquer and Destroy' and "Strongest of the Strong'. One thing about this album that struck me was what one HELL of a powerful voice Mille has! A very underrated frontman in my opinion. I do not care much for American bands - all the best groups are from Europe. Mercyful Fate from Copenhagen Denmark, Bathory from Sweden and Kreator from Germany. In fact, I listen to more groups from Germany than any other country in the world - of course there's Accept and the Scorpions but also Attic, Destruction and KREATOR! As I would always tell my friends who never even heard of the group, remember its Kreator with a capitol K!!! On a final note, if you are not sure about getting 'Hate Uber Alles' make damn sure you listen to 'Gods of Violence' and then you will be convinced to get this one as well. 'Gods of Violence' is Kreator at their fastest, most aggressive and energetic best -- there is reason why that album made number one on the charts in Germany.

Impressive musical growth
A strong Kreator album, yet 'Hate Uber Alles' is bound to alienate some long-time fans. There are definitely some high-octane thrashy moments (the title track and 'Killer of Jesus' being two good examples), but Kreator do focus on mid-tempo, melodic sections for much of the album. Mille Petrozza writes convincingly in this vein and I am impressed that he has refrained from just recycling past glories (a sentiment that will not be shared by all). The production and the performances are top notch. A ‘grower’ of an album and one that is not for everyone, but ultimately a rewarding listening if you are OK with musical growth.
