Simply "Awesome" -- Nick's Best Album
My favorite Nick Lowe album is back in print, and better than ever with a pair of ace bonus tracks. Very glad Yep Rock is making it available again. The bonus tracks are a spot-on cover of Johnny Horton's "Honky Tonk Hardwood Floor," along with another rockabilly gem: "Walk On By" (I think by Jake Scott originally, but best cover of all was done by Robert Gordon and Chris Spedding). Amazing that tracks of this quality were kept in the can. The pumping, Farfasia organ-driven Half a Man and Half a Boy opens the album in festive, rocking style (with a slight stylistic tip of the cap to the Sir Douglas Quintet's "She's About a Mover). Collectors take note: I guess if you want to order all six (??) of these reissues directly from the record label, you get a free Nick Lowe lunchbox. How cool is that?

A high point in Lowe's career
After the misstep of 'The Abominable Showman', Nick Lowe came roaring back to life with 'Cowboy Outfit'. He put together a crack band made up of Martin Belmont, Bobby Irwin and Paul Carrack, and came up with great, fun rock and roll. Thirty-three years ago when I let the needle drop on this one, and "Half a Boy and Half a Man" came charging out of the speakers, I knew I was in good hands.Again, fun songs all around, but the stand outs on the original album are "Half a Boy...", "Breakaway", "You'll Never Get Me Up (in One of Those)", "Awesome", "God's Gift to Women", "Maureen, and "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young". And even the two bonus tracks are just as good! The only turd in the punch bowl is "L.A.F.S." produced by one E. Costello (when he was going through his what the what 'Punch the Clock'/'Goodbye Cruel World' phase). But that's what the skip button is for.Big thanks to YepRoc for putting this out (as well as the rest of Nick's Columbia catalog)! Don't delay, buy today!

Great music
I've been a Nick Lowe fan for 45 years and my copy of Cowboy Outfit had started jumping badly. I'm old fashioned and like my CDs. This album contains two of my favourite Lowe songs. Half a boy and half a man. Also, Break away. The only difference is the playlist on the new CD is mixed up compared to the original but that's fine. It's still a fantastic album.

Great album
Nick Lowe doing what he does best; crafting catchy, up beat pop/soft rock songs which stick in your head.
