Botanicum: Welcome to the Museum

Every page is drenched in color and filled with knowledge. It was a suggestion from my daughter's 2nd grade homeschool curriculum and has been a really useful supplement to her learning. She loves the pictures, and the specimens the illustrator chose always spark her artistry. The book flows nicely, moving through the plant kingdom in an evolutionary way. The writing is clear and creative. The quality of the book cover, bindings and pages are all exceptional. The pages are sturdy and easy to turn, the cover is thick and well made. It definitely feels like it will withstand the test of 2nd grade fingers and feelings. It covers so many little tidbits that we would have missed or overlooked without this great resource. I would give this book a 10 if I could. You won't regret this purchase, it's worth it!

This book is extremely well made and has mesmerizing art work with informative bulletpoints about physical features of many intriguing plant species and it also dives into the history/evolution of plants over millions of years. It was very affordable and when it arrived I was stunned by the quality and beauty of the cover and every single page. This book is great for a wide age range - middle school aged years and up. I'm 38 and found it very entertaining and rich with intricate illustrations that make a person appreciate the complexity and inner workings of nature.

Amazing art pages. Does not disappoint. Nice to keep out as a coffee table book. Inspiring!

Absolutely gorgeous illustrations. Well, above my expectations. Even the end papers are beautiful. This will be immensely useful and interesting in my classroom and with my own children.

This is such a beautiful book with stunning illustrations of the different plants. I haven’t actually read it, I just enjoy the illustrations. It’s just soo beautiful.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book, the first picture is after I already cut out the pictures and then I put them in frames. The artwork in all of these books are so beautiful, they are perfect for home decor.

This is a very cool book. The best thing about it are the illustrations. If you are looking for in depth information about the plant world....this is not the one. I'm thinking about getting the poster book and framing some of the pages. My only con is that I wish the book was a little smaller. It is the same size as the poster book.

Received "Botanicum" a week ago and brought it into my classroom. The children are illustrating their Five Kingdom charts and have been using this and "Animalium" for their illustrating ideas on the plant and animal kingdoms. One child is making his own chart of the plant kingdom's tree of life based on the book's introductory centerpiece. The text is easy to read with interesting summaries of the plant classifications and individual descriptions of illustrations. The book is beautiful and reminds one of the exciting boxes and drawers of specimens one would find at a museum. They added some protists (diatoms) and lichen and fungi which could be another "Big Picture Book" venture - mushrooms are wonderfully varied as well as the protoctista kingdom - it would complete an already wonderful series!
