Countdown To Ecstasy SHM

This is for the SACD version. First of all, I'm a huge fan of Steely Dan and this is my favorite album of theirs. The DSD remastering is absolutely fabulous. The space between instruments, the deep, powerful, tight bass, the wonderful definition that lets me hear the acoustics surrounding each instrument, it's all there like the best SACD's. I have DVD-A's and the new Bluray Audios but this has always been the best format imho. I would love to get back into vinyl since my last experience is decades old but issues of cost, storage room, etc. prevents me from taking the plunge. I would love to see this format survive but this pricing is, admittedly, a little nuts. Kudos for the effort but I fear $70 discs will make this format disappear.

These songs sound like I have never heard them. A wide sound-stage, instruments & vocals mixed carefully with pristine sound quality. I doubt that a better sounding version of this album exists. Enjoy it soon.

What can I say, this is a great SACD, wish it was Quad though, maybe someday!

アルバムとしての評価は今更なので割愛します。評価はSACDとしての価値評価です。「ガウチョ」とドナルドフェイゲンの「ナイトフライ」この「マルチSACD」の音が素晴らしく（ステレオでも元々音が良いが、別物な程凄い）ステレオでも音が良くなっているのでは？との期待から購入。結論は「CDで十分！この値段（3054円で購入）で購入する価値なし）でした。音質向上はあるのかもしれませんが、マルチで別物に生まれ変わった「ガウチョ」と「ナイトフライ」に比べれば耳くそ程の差しか感じません。この2枚は5千円でも買いますが、「エクスタシー」はCD持ってるんで2千円でもいりません。その他、彩(エイジャ) やプレッツェル・ロジックも買いましたが評価は同じです。SACDで買い直す価値はありませんでした。

正直、あまり期待していませんでした。ajaのSACDが良すぎだったので、ＳＤ初期のこの盤が何処までいい音になるのか、不安がありました。しかし、良かった！２０００年のリマスターと聴き比べると、リヴァーブの聴こえ方がが明らかに違います。２０００年盤も文句なしのいい音でしたが、このSACDを聴いてから、２０００年盤を聴くと、ノイズゲートなのかコンプのせいなのか、リヴァーブが不自然に切れ気味のように聴こえます。（昨今のドライなサウンドに近付けるため、あえてやっている気もしますが）個人的には、king of the worldのイントロのハットの素晴らしさを再認識できたのが良かった。全体的な印象としては、聴いていると音の良し悪しを忘れて曲に没頭できる感じです。高価な盤を買った事によるプラシーボ効果も否定はしませんが、とりあえず過去のＣＤと確実に音は違うので、一聴の価値はあると思いますよ。＜さわやか革命＞(笑)も期待大です！

評判の悪いいつもの四つ折りジャケットではなく、少し大きい箱の中に普通のCD紙ジャケとSACDが分けて収められています。普通のプラケースで3000円にしてくれりゃいいと思うのですが。SHMと非SHMの違いもよく分からないし。音の方は、AjaやGauchoよりもロックっぽいせいか、2000年盤との違いをより感じます。聴いてて楽しいです。
