Engaging mystery set in the 1980s
The Chilling Deception by Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz is set in the 1980s and has not stood the test of time. Don't get me wrong as I still adore Ms. Krentz's writing style and the mystery was well crafted; but Zac Justis would not be an acceptable hero today. All in all the mystery kept me engaged and I'll be reading the next one in the series.

Happy Times!
Jayne Castle is my very favorite author! Amazon saying she was coming out with four new books put me in seventh heaven. I bought the first 2 and practtically devoured them. Now I'm patiently waiting for the next 2 to come out on August 1st. When books are written this well it is really hard to wait for the next one. These four books are altogether different from the other books of hers I've read but they are super good! I understand that they were written earlier in her writing career, went out of print and now are being reissued. The characters are sexy as can be! The plots are fun and not easy to figure out. Try them, you'll love them!

cute short read
This is a cute little book. Out of all four of them it is probably my least favorite though. The plot gets a little boring in the middle. I find the Jayne Castle books overpriced for as old as they are. The publishing date given is for when they were published as ebooks not when they were originally published. This book is from the 1980's and quite dated. I am not sure why they are so expensive. This should be a $1-2 book due to the short length and age of the book.

Loved it... altho prefer her sci fi books
this is supposedly early Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz)....but.. I found this book to be much better than the old old ones that they were re issuing once she made it big.... these are well written altho a bit formulaic (heck aren't they all??)... but enjoyable and interesting. if you like her books you will like these...

Good
I like these older writings of Castle. I was hoping as a Jones that there might be that paranormal thing to these stories but there aren't. Good nonetheless.

very good read
I enjoyed the entire series from Jayne Castle. My only problem was that I had to buy a kindle to get to read them. I wish they would be re-released in paperback format. Nothing against the kindle, but I prefer to actually have the book in hand.

Light fun reading
Fun reading. A lot like the Castle series on TV. In fact, it could be a series. Funny.

Very early Jayne Castle- The Chilling Deception
I can't say I wasn't warned about this trilogy. The author herself said that this was an example of her early work.I almost gave up on reading Chilling Deception all the way through because the heroine proved to be so stupid, but she did show just enough signs of intelligence to get me through.

Never disappoints!
I don't know that I ever even have to read the synopsis of this author! Even for the 80's when a script had to be followed she has a kick-*ss heroine and almost enlightened hero that could communicate when it matters - love her!

Good story but slow going
Like the other two books in this series, there is a good story but it could have done with a little less padding. Gwen (Guinevere) could be a little irritating paricularly her constant questioning of whether she could trust Zac. Zac comes over a little like someone's dad/grandad at times. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but the author usually describes her male leads so well that I get hooked but somehow this time I felt let down. Sorry Ms Krentz because I really do love your books but this time it felt like you hadn't described the character well enough - like looking at him through a mist when some of the picture is missing. That said, maybe it is the market it was written for. Because I love the books, I read anything by the author I can get my hands on, but she writes for different markets and it may just be that the book is aimed at the wrong market for me.

Great read as always from Jayne Anne Kerentz. Well written, interesting characters and one you start it's hard to stop.
