Seabiscuit the Wonder Horse Hardcover – Illustrated, October 28, 2008

I use this book regularly for an early literacy reading program for the Kentucky Derby Museum. The text is very accessible - but not juvenile. McCarthy does a great job of capturing Seabiscuit's transformation from an also-ran to champion, and the people who worked with the horse (and believed in the horse to make this possible. The illustrations are top-notch as well - fun, but also capturing the historical elements. I don't come across many children's horse books that I like - this one is excellent and recommended.

Love this book! Our horse-loving daughter is such a fan. She shared it with her class last year and her teacher loved it so much that we decided to surprise her with a copy for her classroom. The kids all loved the story, the pictures and got a special lesson in horse racing history. I can't wait to volunteer to read it to them again this year!

It was perfect! I teach preschool and I live in Kentucky. I wanted a story about a Kentucky racehorse that preschool kids could relate to. We celebrated the Kentucky Derby at school and I read this book to the kids that week. They loved it!

Good, Nice book for fans of this story. It's not an award winner but enjoyable for a husband that likes racing and this tale to read to his son... When you read the same books over and over, pick a story you'll enjoy as well.

I love this book. If you like biography or great true animal stories - this is it. I'm using it in my 4th grade unit about the the Great Depression.

We thought Seabiscuit the Wonder Horse was awesome! I would highly recommend it to anyone. The pictures were really illustrated the book quite nicely too.
