No, no it is not waterproof. Neither the material it is crocheted from nor the method of its construction (crochet) are waterproof. Having said this, I will add that it is a delightful sun hat. I wear mine while gardening. It is very lovely and comfortable

The description says there is a removable chin strap but when I look at all the pictures I don’t see anything like that. Does it have one?

No, it doesn’t have a chin strap. It has a ribbon that is used to adjust the size and maybe if your head was really really small you’d have enough to go under your chin but I doubt it! Really, once you adjust the tightness you won’t need a chin strap. It stays on very well and is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of compliments. This is a buy it right away you won’t regret it! My head circumference is 21 1/2 " will it fit me ok ? I really love it
