One of my favourite volumes yet
This was a brilliant volume, better than volume 6. Stunning artwork as usual.

Arrived quickly
As beautiful as the previous editions. Story is a bit more convoluted.

Another interesting and confusing part of this fantasy comic book saga.
Confusing because I don't remember all that came before and would have to read all the previous volumes again each time to keep up. Interesting because it's a nicely convoluted story with an abundance of diverse and fascinating characters. The artwork continues to be beautifully executed. It's a good fantasy series but each volume needs to be read in context. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In the hands of the dusk court
Volume seven in the series of paperbacks that collect issues of the comic 'Monstress.'Strictly for grown ups only, thanks to gore, violence, adult moments and strong language. This contains issues thirty six to forty one. All have chapter number pages so you can tell where an issue ends and another begins. And this really isn't a jumping on point. No exposition. And it could do, as another reviewer says, with a recap. So new readers start with book one.Regular ones, read on.After the end of the last volume, Maika is incapacitated. And various individuals all want her power. Corvin and Kippa are her only hope. But her mind is still active. It will learn a few things...Glorious art, imagination, and writing as ever. But with nigh on a year between volumes, I did find it a bit tricky to get back into this one. Corvin does spend a bit too much time dithering. It was hard to remember who some of the beings in this were. But rather like the film Tenet, I decided to just go with it. I had a good time as a result. There are flashbacks in here. But they are labelled so you don't get confused as to the timeline. It does thankfully have a wonderful focus who grounds the whole thing in the shape of Kippa. She never gives up as ever. Which remains as awesome as ever. Although I wasn't remembering everyone I was thinking what happened to....and one very memorable page does answer that. This volume does do what it needs to do for Maika as a character. The ending is as emotional and good as that page I just mentioned. More remains to come after this. I love this series. I look forward to seeing what happens next. I think I will have to re-read it all when done though just to get a grip again. But I will keep enjoying the ride while it lasts.

The War continues
If you have gotten this far, you already understand how beautiful the story is. In this volume the demons have finally taken over.My only disappointment is that the volumes are getting thinner. To me it indicates that the story is winding down. Because the co-creators have won multiple Eisner Awards, they are sought out to do other projects. I think this is self evident with this current volume.

"I'm going to save your life, okay? Just like you all saved mine."
