Explorer MTX Disc Rack 2.0,Black

This was a perfect fit with no issues on my Trek Verve 2.

Super well made rack from an established company that I have been usiing for decades. It's almost perfect, but I have one complaint and one design change suggestion. The complaint is that the lower mount points on my rack misaligned one bolt causing crossed threads in the boss on my new bike. Thankfully I was able to remove my rear wheel and send a fresh bolt through from the inside out to clear the threads and finish the installation. The other thing I was going to suggest is to consider widening the rack mount points for the straps that attach to the upper bosses under the bike seat. If the 4 holes just in front of the sliding retention track were widened or if that panel were widened and outer holes were added, it would solve my issue. This rack is for a wider bike with disc brakes. I bet there are many other people thinking the same thing. I understand manufacturing considerations come into play when there is a design that's in use. So who knows if you can do a change. I might make an extension plate if this ever becomes an issue. But at this point it's installed and looks a little off with the straps forming a vee.

I purchased this rack with the Topeak Trunk Bag, which locks itself securely to the rack as I ride on the roads and gravel. Easy to install; didn't need the instructions. Wish the extension bars that connect the rack to the frame were black instead of silver, so that the bars would match the rack. Please consider making that a change, and when you do, send me a set. Works great with the Topeak Truck Bag. Looks great on my Marin DSX FS.

I have a Trek FX2 Hybrid bike with disc brakes. I started to use it to bike commute and got tried of carrying a heavy backpack. This rack fit my bike perfectly and paired with some panniers, my work clothes and my laptop bag hang on my bike rather than on my back. Easy to install and seems solid. I’ve been using it pretty regularly for 6 months and it still looks new.

Sometimes it is tough to know if the part you are getting will work with what you are putting it on. This was the case with putting the Explorer MTX Disc Rack 2.0 on my Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Duo 2.0. The 'bendable' brackets were simply too short to reach the frame. Fortunately, I was able to leverage to brackets from my existing rack to make it work (see photo). My only real issue was the fact that I was shorted some M5 locking nuts to go along with the bolts (hinting at perhaps a returned item???). It did seem new, so maybe it was just an error in packaging. Nothing that $12 at Home Depot couldn't resolve. It was $12 because I also got a couple longer bolts for attaching to the frame since the 15mm bolts only allowed me a couple threads given the thickness of the Juggernaut frame. Even with using an extra bracket, the frame is very sturdy (though not as sturdy as the original). Nevertheless, I am looking forward to using the Topeak MTX 2.0 TrunkBag DXP with Expandable Panniers when it gets here in a couple days.

Fits many bike

Wanted to love this rack, but haven't yet been able to install it. The kit was missing a bolt, a nut, and 3 washers needed for installation. The nuts have stoppers in them, which doesn't allow them to screw flush to the rack as needed.

Love this brands racks. It has a nice flat shelf to attach my rear facing GoPro on.

Works well with our new electric assist bicycles. I have a small bike and have to lower the seat to accommodate my short height. The rack has bendable extensions that affix to the bike under the seat, which has ensured the rack fits well under the seat while clearing the back tire. I had to extend it fully and only use one set of bolts on the bendable braces to give enough clearance, but that has worked well and is very stable.

Panniner rack is fantastic and easy to fit. Delivery time was weeks. I was beginning to wonder if it was coming from overseas. When it arrived this was confirmed!

The screws don't go all the way through the bolts, so, it impossible to tighten them and keep the upper arms firmly in place. Will need to go to a hardware store and buy different ones.

I love the Topeak MTX system and currently use it on my old hybrid bike. I ordered this rack for my new fat tire bike so that I can use my existing MTX bag on it but was disappointed to find that this rack does not fit my new bike. This rack is not a 'one size, fits all' solution. Make sure this rack will fit your bike before ordering! It will save you time and disappointment.....Sadly, I returned mine.
