🚀 Ignite Curiosity with Every Build!
The Butterfly Edufields DIY Electromagnetic Crane Kit is a comprehensive STEM experiment designed for kids aged 15 and up. This kit allows young learners to explore the principles of electricity and magnetism through hands-on projects, including building an Electro Magnet Truck. With all necessary materials and an easy-to-follow instruction workbook, this kit promotes scientific skills, creativity, and a deeper understanding of STEAM concepts.

Three Learning Activities
Apparently there are quite a few different types of kits this company makes. We got the Simple Machine Levers kit, which contained three different learning activities in the kit which exampled three different classes of levers. The kit is all foam pre-cut pieces and relatively easy to assemble. A lot of the learning about levers and leverage is described in the book. So I'd recommend you make sure your child(ren) read not only the instructions for assembly, but also the interesting examples explained in the instruction book. The age rating for this kit was 8+. I happen to have an 8 year old wandering around so that's perfect. It took mine just over an hour to assemble all three of them. I gave a few minutes of assistance on a few things, mainly help with the third kit which used water pressure in a syringe and tube to create pressure for movement. The instructions were a little difficult to decipher at first, but we got there. On the negative side, with the seesaw for balancing weight, the weights it gave us was too heavy for the foam and was bending it, so we used other things. For the third one the body for the arm didn't want to stay in the base so it was tipping over and had to be held up when the plunger was being used to move the arm. It's a good little kit of three examples for leverage and I'm sure we will get more types of STEM kits from this company in the future. For the price point, I wish it had a few more things in the kit to assemble, but they will learn what's intended to be taught from this kit.

Great idea but very flimsy and hard to manipulate
I bought 4 STEM toys for some children in my family to have a fun, educational activity. I opened one box to play around with it first and found it very frustrating because the toy was foam. The levers bent easily. Popsicle stick type wood or plastic would have been so much better. It would have been nice if there were explanations or suggestions like use 4 bolts or have the lever at this spot for the best results. Of course, the kids should play around with the materials and discover, but knowing for sure the optimal results could help too.

Pretty advanced, could use better instruction
This ButterflyEdufields Satellite Stellar looked really interesting to me. My 9-year-old son loves learning about space. I hadn't seen anything like these projects before. And, my son has received a lot of science kits as gifts, and we've tried different subscription services. The first project was a little disappointing though. It was easy for my son to put together almost entirely on his own, but I felt like the instructions didn't explain how to measure accurately and how the grid works well enough. I had to have my more math and science-minded husband explain this one and work on the math problems. I think it's pretty challenging for the intended age group. The communication satellite project looks more promising, but the first project turned us off a little. I would recommend this for the older end of the suggested age range and maybe even teens.

Cool but Tacky
It's a cool idea of how to teach about Satellites but the design is rather tacky. It needs to be better developed to be an effective teaching tool.
