Enjoyable French and Indian War Game
This is the best version of the French and Indian War Game that I have played compared to Worthington's Hold the Line Expansion Kit and Wilderness Empires. What makes it better is actually their use of cubes to represent individual armies versus tokens that you have to turn over to designate hits. Their is also nice quality components, board, and storage containers for your faction's pieces. Easy to learn the rules and play the game. Lots of decisions to be made that don't require a lot of thought like in typical grognard war game. Your ability to place forts and recruitment centers in the game makes for some nice strategic variations. The French defeated the English in all 3 contests that I have played, but the final scores were really close. Winning momentum can swing pretty easily from side to side each round due to the random draw of the turn order. Native American contributions can alter strategies. This is a good light wargame that can be played under 2 hours.

Stands on its own very well
I already own the classic 1775 rebellion game by the same publisher and was a little apprehensive about expanding with this game due to overlap concerns but I felt that the addition of fort markers and muster markers and victory point locations changes the strategy significantly. so far I've played this game with my wife and some friends about six or seven times and every game is very different. My wife does not enjoy strategy games but she loves history and she enjoys playing this game with me and she wins just about as often as I do. The reason for the equality, I think, is because most war games strategize around resource management but this game forces you to strategize around movement. it is different enough to put my wife and I on the same playing field even though I have much more experience with war games. For what it counts, I believe the British American side is harder to play than the French Canadian side.

Intro to war gaming
A little expensive for what it’s worth however it is a good introductory war game.

Inferior playing pieces for what was paid
I absolutely love 💗 Academy Games they really hit the ball out of the park with 878 Vikings. All of the pieces in plastic look awesome and are worth every penny HOWEVER had they done the same with 1754 The French and Indian War. It would have been super awesome! But instead it just has colored blocks of wood. If they ever make the pieces I'd love to buy them. In the meantime I'll search elsewhere.

Another Fantastic, Light War Game!
1754: Conquest. The French and Indian War is another great, light war game in Academy Games' "Birth of America" series. If you like one of them, you like all of them. They're quick, easy to play and are STEEPED in history and theme!Until Vikings 878, this was my favorite in the series. Mostly because of the subject matter. The French and Indian Wars (1754-1762), known in Europe and the Seven Years War, is one of the most important wars that nobody knows about! The war set the stage for the American Revolution some 20 years later, and was the FIRST 'world war' in world history!

Spiel top!

Fabulous Wargame/Board game that my wife likes also.
I LOVE this game system. I have 1775 and have played that countless times including with my wife who hates war-games. She loves that however. 1754 is no different. It has enough variations that for me warranted owning both titles and we have had a real blast playing it and swapping over sides.I love the use of forts as that allows you to try to select an area or areas you want to protect more and use as a springboard to take over your opponents territories. I also love the subtle change in the way the Natives Americans play in this as they seem to feel more important. It's a simple change, but from our games they simply can not be ignored. In 1775 you could risk passing them up as allies for the opportunity of a lighting fast attack especially early on in the game. In 1754 not a chance!!! Without them you lose. They are a core part of your forces. The French start off able to ally with them more at the beginning and the British towards the end which fits in with the actual history. The rule mechanics are simple but elegant allowing you to spend your time thinking up plans and tactics to defeat your opponent rather than constantly checking the rules and looking at charts for results. Bottom line is that this is a fun thoughtful game that oozes the historical theme it's set in and you can learn a fair bit about the real historical events of the era by reading through the rule book.Excellent stuff!
