Does what it advertises
My new server build will not post without a monitor connected. I tried everything to get it to run “headless” but like I said it won’t post. This tricks the system into thinking it has a monitor and its posts and boots without issue. Wish I didn’t have this thing hanging off the back but it’s better than having a monitor connected 24/7. I can disconnect the monitor once it posts but if I have to reboot the server remotely it will hang up and not post. This fixed that problem.

Works Perfectly
I bought this for a computer server that I connect to remotely. For some reason, if the server reboots, my remote connection software no longer will display a screen unless I first connect a video cable at least one time. This adapter simulates that video cable connection, which allows me to reboot the computer server without having to be physically at the machine. I do think it is a little pricey, but it sure is better than having to be there.

Allows old computers to boot modern Linux OS
If you have an older computer you want to run headless then one of these makes it possible. With so many uses for obsolete hardware, this little device can turn a useless computer into something practical. Modern Linux can't boot on the old hardware unless a monitor is attached and if you are looking at this item you surely know that. I can only say a junk 2007 mac-mini will boot Debian 12 and operate as VPN server, AdBlocker DNS, and NAS without a problem - but without this device, it can't boot at all and you can't ssh into it to do anything.

ot just works without any user interaction required.
Nailed it. I just plugged in the DVI-1P emulator after the other monitor was already turned off (low end video card with hdmi and dvi port). Logged in using anydesk (just like before) but this time it actually showed me the PC's screen. Did not have to configure or set anything. Before I had this dongle, anydesk would say that it was waiting for the image to become available, which never happened. Update... one additional step was required on my end. I had to mirror/duplicate the image on both monitors so that everything was working perfectly when the real monitor was turned off.

Works as described
Am using it with a 15 year old Mac mini running Debian. Machine boots (which it will not without dvi connected) and loads the xfce desktop that I access remotely
