Any issues constantly running this pump for aquaponics? Is a replacement pre-filter available?

I bought this for my fountain that has 3 tiers, I run it 24, 7 and it seems to work great, it really moves a lot of water

Is the 400 gallon/hr model strong enough to push water up a slight incline for 6-7 feet and cascade back down into the pond?

Mine is in a really small fountain (about 1 foot climb), but, there is plenty of flow and force being pushed by this pump. Short answer, not sure; my guess, YES.

which size should I buy for a 40 gallon pond?

This size was perfect for me, but mine is more than 40 gal, maybe 50+. The issue is how high you want to pump the water, and how much. You can adjust with the valve or a simple plastic valve if not part of this kit.
