Very nice toaster
Nice looking toaster, shiny and solid. I suggest you run it through a toast cycle before toasting your first slice of bread, because it will burn off any unpleasant odors from manufacturing. Toasted evenly and works great. Hopefully it will last, and I'm happy with this purchase.

I'm hoping this gets better with age
Replacing my 18 yr old Krups 4 slice toaster w this one. In comparison, it feel lighter.Cons: It toasts slower. I've had to move the time setting to 4 to get noticibly toasted bread. Up from 3 on the last Krups toaster. So it takes about an extra minute. I'm hoping this gets better with age. There was a chemical smell the first few times we used it and the first two toast batches actually tasted a bit chemically. I ran the toaster on the highest setting (6mins) empty on both sides to sort of burn out the 'new' smell. It seems to be gone now. At that setting the sides of the toaster got quite warm. If yours will see a lot of use at higher settings be sure to keep the area around it clear. The levers probably should have been the brushed metal finish, if fingerprints bother you, this probably isn't the toaster for you.Pros:Toasts evenly, all settings function well.Warming function is great when you couldn't get to your toast straight awayDefrost! I didn't have this before and I doubt I'd ever buy another toaster w/o it. If you freeze your bread you can take it straight from the freezer.Pretty to look at.Wipes up easilyLast one went 18 yrs so I won't complain if this one does the same.Update: @ 6 mos the toaster is a little faster to toast. Still an even toast, no problems. :)

Exactly what you would expect, as advertised. For the price a great value.
This is easy to use, looks good and works like you would expect. Do not expect Wolf or similar construction, but looks good and the controls are easy to adjust, hold their level of toasting. Like the reheat function, and cancel function. We have it set on one of the lowest settings to keep from burning toast. Not sure what you would want the higher setting for, anything more than a couple of setting up from the lowest burns toast. But the lowest seems to work well for a medium level of toasting and not burning. I would not return but if choosing again would look again for other options. However not unhappy with this choice.

Great toaster! Just bought replacement after 8 1/2 years.
I don't usually do reviews but in the process of buying a replacement (primary) toaster I was surprised at how many middling to bad rating this baby got.Bought the first one through Amazon is mid-2014. It has been moved 5 times, one move cross-country. It is beat to heck. Dents in the side and scrapes all over from poor packing. It's like a Timex watch, takes a licking and keeps on toasting.I looks around before buying the replacement, but found nothing to match the features of this one. The slots are nice and long as well as wide. The bagel setting actually toasts the inside of the bagel and warms the outside. It toast wide bread and thick bread. I even put frozen biscuit in the slot to defrost and warm up. I have to use wooden tongs to retrieve them, but it works. No doubt the toaster has been abused. I heat plates on it nearly everyday. That's probably not good for it, but it does a fine job. The only thing wrong with it is the abuse has made the toasting uneven. I can flip the bread and it does fine, I'll move it to the caseta on our house and let it live on, just not in daily use.The toaster has been a workhorse for my family. I hope it is for yours.

Solid toaster if you want a dehydrator
-----UPDATED REVIEW-------------I am changing my original review to lower it to 1 star. After about 6 months, this toaster is barely toasting at all. I have the dials set to maximum and the toast comes out warm and dry but not exactly toasted. There is only a hint of golden color. I have to push the bread down again to have it toasted and then it comes out unevenly browned. Mostly, it just turns the bread into a dried out, hard slab. So if you need bread crumbs, it works great. If you want actual toasted bread, it doesn't work at all. And it takes absolutely forever to run through a cycle--I won't use the word "toast" since it no longer does that. It's a bread dehydrator, not a toaster. Yes, you can see from my original review that it initially worked. But less than a month after I wrote that, we started having to turn up the dials to max and getting that traditional yummy toast that is browned on the outside while warm and still tender on the inside was impossible. This was an outrageously expensive toaster to stop working properly so quickly. I don't know why a good toaster is so difficult to find now, but it is. I certainly can't recommend this one. And I can't understand how so many others gave it good reviews unless they did so during the first week after purchase. Thar is why I initially thought it was a good toaster. I was wrong.-----ORIGINAL REVIEW-------I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. When we first got the toaster, it worked fine, although I had to dial it almost to max to get really brown toast. I love the fact that the slots are wide and you can lift the lever to make your toast stick up to take it out. However, now that we've had it for several months, I have noticed that the top portion of the toast browns while the bottom does not. It may just be our toaster or a problem with the homemade bread, but it is not toasting evenly. It is also on the slow side for making toast, although definitely faster than our toaster oven.Overall, the toaster seems well built with nice features, but we are finding it a little uneven in toasting.

not toasting the bread dark enough
liked most things but it does not darken the toast enough even on the highest setting and the blue lights on the front glares in your eyes when trying to see the settings

Very shiny front
Very pretty toaster. The sides are typical stainless steel and the top and front are mirror-like. As indicated in the instructions, it had a very strong odour the first few runs so we ran without anything it is until that was gone.

Worst Toaster I have ever owned.
Ever since I plugged this in it has easily been the worst toaster I have ever owned. It takes forever to make toast and does not toast evenly. Not only do you have to wait forever for your toast, you then have to turn it around and make it even. Absolutely horrible appliance.
