Standard Brand products to the rescue again!!
Repaiing a vintage vehicle can be a challange for parts needs. Back when these vehicle were new I trusted Standard Brand products for electrical needs. It is still the same today. Standard Brand electrical products are as good today as they were years ago.In this case, I needed an ignition switch as the original part had finally fallen apart. This was available and at a reasonable price. Since i trust Standard Brand parts so much it was an easy decission. The fit was EXACTLY like the original factory part and worked flawlessly.Comes with the switch in an original Standard Brand box with instructions for those that need them. I suggest that if you have never replaced one of these before that you read the instructions as replacement is easy if you know how. If you do not know how you can do a lot of damage to the vehicle.I am pleased as always with this companies products.

Works great but all versions of this part may need modification on an older vehicle.
It works great but since you're putting it on an older car you might need to modify something. Either the retaining bezel (ACC, ON, START) or the spring or both. After 4 hours of trying to muscle it on, I just installed this and here are a few tips.1. You need to be able to access it from the back and push from behind in order to compress the spring against the dash and then spin the bezel counterclockwise to release the old one. It was not easy to access on my 72 Ford Bronco. But with the help of a glove for padding on my hand and a large wrench on the bezel, I was able to compress the spring and turn the bezel.2. I found it impossible to install the new unit without cutting the spring and also grinding down the bezel. So if it does not go right on, don't waste your time and simply cut the spring and or grind down the bezel. I used wire cutters to cut the spring and a Dremel to grind the retaining "cutout" on the bezel. It's not hard. You'll see what I mean. You'll save yourself a lot of frustration.

fits & works fine.
Bought this to replace the ignition switch in a '63 Ranchero. The switch works fine. The OEM connector plugs right on with no hassle from the extra terminal found on the switch. Later years sed the extra terminal for something, but it's just an extra tab in a '63.Just to make a good review, here's a how-to-do-it.On the early Fords with the ignition switch in the dash, there's a bezel that holds the switch/lock cylinder up against the dash. The bezel (shiny ring with ACC/OFF/RUN/START written on it) rotates about a 1/4 turn to come off. It isn't tight(normally). Since a good sized wire is routed through the switch, disconnect the battery first before swapping out your ignition switch. Don't blame me if your wiring harness is fried because the wires touched the dash...Here's the trick: reach up behind the dash, and hold the ignition switch with the left hand. Push/pull the switch towards the seat. Grab the bezel with the right hand and turn it counter-clockwise. The key cylinder and switch will come out towards the firewall. Now you can see the little 3/8" nut that holds the connector to the switch, disconnect, and separate the switch from the lock cylinder. Install the new switch to the back of the lock cylinder. Reconnect the connector to the new switch and reinstall the nut. Tighten, stuff the new deal back up into the dash, pull/push it toward the seat, stick in the bezel and turn it clockwise a 1/4 turn to lock. Let the switch go, and twist it a bit back and forth to make it set in the tiny cutout in the bezel hole.Reconnect the battery and crank 'er up.

Make sure you have an M5-0.8 nut on hand
The switch seems to work fine, but as others have said, they should've included the nut, especially since it is a different size than the original. I think this is just stupid. I would've paid another buck or so if the nut was included, with no complaint. Save yourself some trouble and just buy a couple of the nuts when you place your order, or make sure you have one or two on hand. The size (assuming they are always the same) is metric M5-0.8. I had to run down to the local Autozone to get one, because, naturally, I had every other size nut handy except the one I needed.I also had to cut about an inch off the spring, but I'm not sure everyone would have that problem.
