Franz Ferdinand's greatest album: don't believe the naysayers
This is Franz Ferdinand's greatest album. This is a concept album and the entire thing is extremely consistent. Each track's tone perfectly compliments the one that follows. The production and instrumentation sounds very "live", as if we're sitting in a studio with the band and they're performing it for us. There are several truly epic garage rock sounding moments on this album, such as the incredibly intense drumming on the outro of "What She Came For".I love every track on this album, however, the greatest track on this album is "Lucid Dreams"... the 8-minute long album version, not the 4 minute single version. They are very different songs. The 8-minute version has a much better structure with an intense buildup at the beginning, and then the most incredible outro I've heard in a song. Put this song on in a high quality car speaker system with a high quality file of this song. Wait for those synths to hit in at the outro, they jitter back and forth and are both panned hard left and right. The drums kicks in and the synths start flowing... incredible musical moment, I've shown so many friends who hate rock music this track and the ending blows them away each time.A lot of people do not like this album because it's not the sillier, poppier, straight to the point Franz Ferdinand of the past. But this is their most unique and best release. The feel of the album is that they had an entire artistic vision; just look at the album artwork and font. The entire thing is a concept album and the entire thing paints a picture in your mind while you're listening.

Their best album, and their best song
There is something to like on each of FF's albums, but what really sets apart "Tonight" is the fact that the entire album is better than average. There is not a single song that i have to skip. From top to bottom you have single-worthy songs except for a couple slower songs at the end.But the absolute best thing about this album is LUCID DREAMS. I had never seen FF live before i bought this, and i had no idea that the song had been around for a while as a special treat for live shows. But after listening to that song my life was changed. It is unlike any song i have ever heard. It is unlike previous FF songs. It is a sonic masterpiece that i have listened to ATLEAST 5 times EVERY SINGLE DAY for the last 5 months. The song never gets old. Every single time i reach the chorus i cant help but sing along with a giant grin on my face. It is the kind of song that 40 years from now it will still have the same energy.Considering how utterly awesome Lucid Dreams is, i would pay $100 for this album just so i could hear musical perfection before i die

Vinyl boxed set an excellent collector's item for FF fans
Exquisite collection for any Franz Ferdinand fan. I love this album, and bought what I thought was probably a typical vinyl for my record collection. What I got really exceeded my expectations. I received a boxed set with the entirety of the album on 7"s, three disks (Tonight: Franz Ferdinand & Blood on CD, and a DVD I've yet to watch, but I'm excited about). There was also a booklet with lyrics and photos that's really well put-together. It's really a beautiful set, and such a great collector's item for Franz Ferdinand fans. Best way I've spent $17 in ages!

just buy the lucid dreams single.
After Franz had droped off the radar for a few years, I was really excited there was a new album being released.Franz Ferdinand's first album was solid, original, and oozed with that nonchalant artschool coolness. Even their videos directly used post moderism in a qirky, "we're cool be we don't take ourselves too seriously," way. It was both fresh and easy for anyone to identify with, and full of complex emotions, and bit cooly-intellectual. It seemed like there sound was just entitled to existance. I didn't feel like their second album was as good, but I was still on board. Before the album was released, I heard 'lucid dreams' and 'ulysses'. I believe there was a single for lucid dreams, it was a nearly four minute rock song. It expands their sound past "take me out" while still being everything I love about franz ferinand, maybe like the energy of "take me out" with the wistfulness of songs like "40'". Did this need to be made into a 8 minute remix for the cd? No, it didn't. Ulysses is probably the only other song off the album that give me hope these guys can still write captivating music, even if the premis of a guy getting board and getting high (the corus: "ulysses...la la lah") is a bit simple.I would say I found the second album to be a bit immature and underdeveloped at times, but still with some good ideas; apart from those two tracks on TONIGHT, Maybe the songs were well developed, but they were also unoriginal and uninspired. The hooks were all in the right places, but I felt like I'd heard them before. I felt kind of disgusted for buying the cd, if this was their first release I would have never listened to them. I was really excited too, so maybe I had my expectations up a bit. It was also really hyped about how much they expiremented, and rather than improving or expanding their sound it's like they lost it all together for something really mediocore. All bands need to find where their sound is going, I'm really hopeing their next album will be better.

Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand never fails to impress me. I don't know how they do it, but they manage to keep making great music with monotone-style vocals. There's always an ear-catching beat and instrumentals cranking out in every song. This album is awesome! It builds on their previous records, but still manages to create new things. This album was very good, and now I'm waiting to see what they have up their sleeves for the next album.

Well that was different
As a long time Franz Ferdinand fan, I have to say this new CD is very VERY different from what I've come to know as "Franz Ferdinand" and it took me a minute to get my bearings as it were after the first listen, but it's an enjoyable CD and there are several danceable tracks, but I'm still personally on the fence about it.

They've still got 'it'!!
Don't be put off by some of the reviews - this is still a predominately guitar/bass/drums based album!! With a smattering of keyboards on some tracks that in my view only enhance the songs and add an extra dimension. This 3rd album still captures FF's distinctive, seductive style - most of the album still has the 'big' sound, infectious beat and 'anthemic' quality of other FF classics - the first 9 tracks especially, particularly 'No You Girls', 'Bite Hard' and 'What She Came For'. 'Send Him Away' is beautifully melodic. The last 3 tracks are slower but are a nice contrast to the others and enable the listener to 'wind down'. Unlike the first album, this album did take me a few listens for me to get into it but once I did I was completely hooked. There is so much going on in each song and I agree with one reviewer here that it is only after a few listens that the greatness of the songs are revealed and you really appreciate them and find you can't get them out of your head! I'm not a die-hard Franz Ferdinand fan by any means and would say if I thought this album was 'lacking' but there isn't one track on this album that I would skip over. I love it!! I look forward to their fourth 'offering'. If you really love the FF sound/style you'll love this even if it takes 2 or 3 listens.

boring, lifeless but inoffensive. CD came in great condition
Probably the worst Franz ferdinand album. Although it has a few good songs it seems flat and generally unmoving, I found listening to it so bland that I couldn't even be bothered to turn it off as It was so lifeless that it could not even evoke a negative emotion in me. Buy the first two albums instead of this, much better. No problem with the quality of the CD, came quickly in good condition.

Fab. Buy it.
If you are as clever as the band (and as modestly pleasant), this is a brilliant album. It's fun, groovey, less "shout-ey" than their second offering and in general HUGELY palatable and a positive experience.
