Great tire.
This is just about the perfect tire if your mountain bike spends most of its time on paved trail, but still sees some dirt. The dense knobs in the center make it pretty fast rolling, and the wider spaced knobs on the outside maintain grip over rocks and roots. Air pressure has a huge impact, as I first hit the dirt trail at 50psi, and was slipping all over, and couldn't get traction up a steep slope. At 35psi they were a whole different tire, gripping over rocks and roots, and able to scale the same steep slope.I am running the wire bead 29x2.25 in the rear, and the folding 29x2.4 in the front. The size seems pretty accurate, taking into account my fairly narrow rims. The folding front is mounted very straight, and was easy to "massage" the high/low spots to make it even. The wire-bead rear took more work to true up, but that is expected with a cheaper wire version. The folding version is more premium, and has a layer for thorn protection, but at a higher price. After running both, I think the premium folding tire is worth the price premium once you find a tire you like. After a couple hundred miles, 90% paved, I can see some wear, but nothing significant. They are lasting and performing much better than the horrible Bontrager XR2's that came with the bike.

Decent Tire
These tires aren't horrible. They've worked well on an old Giant 26" bike I have as a spare. If I'm not mistaken CST is the parent company of Maxxis. I'm not saying they compare to Maxxis I'm just saying you can certainly buy much worse tires than CST.

Impressive, especially for the price
I got a set of these at Sea Otter a few years back. They were selling them so cheap I couldn't pass them up, figuring they would at least save wear on my more expensive tires. The ones I have are the kevlar bead version. I don't know what this listing is for, wire or kevlar.I gotta say, I'd put these up against the more expensive tires, regardless of price. They're still pretty light, supple, stick well and wear is good. Expensive tires sacrifice some wear in favor of softer rubber that sticks better. These are less soft, but still have pretty decent stick. I've been running them on my XC 29er hardtail for probably going on 6 years now (on actual trails, dirt and rocks, not pave), and maybe 1000 miles. They show some wear, but the knob edges are still pretty sharp and still dig in pretty well.I run them with ultralight tubes. I don't know if they are tubeless compatible or not. I'm not a fan of tubeless anyway, but I may try it again in the future. Does anybody know if these are tubeless compatible?
