The red base unit is stuck in "try me" mode, i tried the steps in the instructions multiple times and it didn't work. any tips?

I had the same thing and the instructions are useless (hold on for more than 1 second). For me, the issue was the switch on the bottom of the red unit needs to be set to the single person icon, not the multi person icon. I think that’s to combine multiple sets of four.

Have 5 kids, can I use two sets for the same game?
