Unbelievably fascinating and beautiful book. Very cool!
WOW! What a book! Very cool! It's beautiful, great pictures with intense drama and fascinating information told from an intriguing perspective. It weaves all sorts of things together into a most surprising tale. From its mythological inception to the present day, you follow a trail of the Ghost Dance, as practice of the ceremony spread around the Americas over time, both north and southward, and the dance is adapted by various indigenous tribes along the way. What unfolds is a remarkable story. A tapestry of events surrounding the dance emerges which, among other things, illustrates once again just how badly native peoples are misunderstood and mistreated. How apropos for today! The book presents a tantalizing narrative that offers actual hope for the survival of all two-leggeds on the planet, if we will but dance the Ghost Dance. Unbelievable that in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, it only became legal to do so since 1978.LOVE THIS BOOK! AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE!

A GOOD ARCHAEOLOGY REFERENCE
Should I purchase as an addition to the upcoming 14 weeks of teaching about Archaeology? I was impressed how the author used Mexico, Central America, and Amazonia to tell stories of the Gods and the ghost dancing. The stories are quite intriguing and show how these cultures have thought and now think. Dr. Jay

An Important Book for These Times
These are the times to read a book such as this. Global warming and the attacks against nature and indigenous people demand that we have inspiration and guidance. This poetic dance through the untold history of the Americas is a fascinating read. Mesoamerican mythology intertwines with the present day, combining in a story that allows us to peak behind the veil of our dominant paradigm and gain new hope for the future via the assistance of talking plants.

Spellbinding
My dear friend Michael Stuart Ani was the scribe of this incredible story of the Cosmology of the Americas. A beautifully rhythmic journey that moved me to tears. I read it while I was traveling through the jungle in Panama and could feel it's pulse.

A Skillful Blend of Spirtuality, Humaneness, and Geography
My hermano and hermana, Michael Stuart Ani and Heather Vuchinich, create a spellbinding tale of spirituality entwined with the human condition that is deeply rooted in both Mesoamerica and the American West. Michael draws on his experiences living among the Yanomami in Amazonia and the Sicangu Lakota Oyate on the Rosebud Reservation. This lovingly rendered book traces the origins of the Ghost Dance in South America as a gift from the Gods, especially Quetzalcoatl, leaving little doubt that its appearance on the Northern Plains in the late 1880s was no accident. Be prepared to enjoy. Be prepared to learn.
