I bought Medium Brown N.Went on just fine, and easy enough to apply. Formula was thinner than I like as I do want it strictly on the roots.I have been using Madison Reed since 2016, and I decided to change it up with this e salon.Greys are difficult to begin with, but this absolutely doesn’t cover greys, and barely resembles brown on roots. As a matter of fact, I did my hair on Sunday and I needed root spray due to the very, very light golden brown, darkish blonde color it produced after leaving it on for a full 50 minutes.Madison Reed’s medium brown NNN at least covers the roots the way it should, and turns brown. This e salon also faded even lighter after washing it. A lot lighter. Five days after using e salon, I am on Amazon buying my usual. It is a no-go for me.Greys are hard as I stated above, but at least I get a couple of weeks out of the other brand.

I’ve been using this brand for a few years and basically wanted to try a darker shade a la cart without committing to it in my eSalon profile since they typically don’t let you go lighter once you go dark. The reason of course being that hair dye doesn’t lift other hair dye out. I’m experienced at fading/lifting my own color so I wasn’t too worried about it, and wanted to cover my overly red shade.This set is best if you already are the color on the box, or have short hair because there isn’t enough to cover long hair- so it’s best just for roots. If you’re trying a new color I would recommend signing up through their site because they give you an extra bottle the first time (one formulated especially for the roots) and anytime you change your shade. You also get expert advice on eSalon.com, which can be helpful.I might try this again if I decide to go lighter myself, although as stated, it’s less economical that way.

I normally purchase this on the esalon website where you can make a completely custom color. I decided to try light blonde for a little highlight. I initially used medium blonde to cover my grays. My hair is a dark blonde color naturally. It worked for me to cover my grays and my sister uses it too and it works great for her. A lot of reviews say it didn’t cover though. Not sure why some people have issues with gray coverage. The medium blonde will definitely turn your hair a little strawberry blonde if your hair pulls red. The light blonde lightens only very slightly. I like it because I can’t easily screw up my hair. If your hair has a tendency to turn red, order the custom color off of their website because you can request neutral undertones which won’t turn it a red tone. I’ll be using this in between salon appts for my grays! Photo is medium blonde on roots and underneath and light blonde highlights lightly on top stands.
