I installed this GateMate lock on my backyard gate last month — the part behind the pool and storage area. Before, I was always worried about leaving the gate open or flimsy locks breaking under pressure. Last weekend I decided to actually test it: after locking it, I pushed hard on the gate — like I was trying to push it open — and it held rock-steady. Locking mechanism feels solid and smooth: the key turns cleanly, the bolt throws fully, and once locked there’s no wiggle or loose play. One rainy night I came out to check on the pool cover, and even with wet wood and metal the lock worked fine — no sticking, no rust forming (so far). Installation was straightforward — fit perfectly in my 4-ft metal-tube gate, and the Euro-key setup gives good security if you want to keep things safe and controlled. Now I leave the gate locked when I’m out or overnight, and I don’t worry about someone messing with the pool gear or tools behind the fence. I have had everyone that has seen this ask me where I got this cause they havent seen anything like it. It still works perfectly after a year. It was easily able to install and the peace of mind that my gated area is secure. They offer several sizes that can fit any gate. It's so easy to use just like any lock. This it so durable and it smoothly opens every time and hasn't rusted. Every contractor, landscape crew, and builders I've had over to do work has all asked about it wanting one for themselves or wanting to install one for their clients. I can't count the times I've had to send a link to someone for this. As far as I know there is nothing else out there like this or if so not as secure as this one. Take it from me I wouldn't go without it for my piece of mind knowing my back yard is secure.

These are the best. Super sturdy, easy to install. It appears all quality material even the keys. Wish I would have found these sooner. The length of the bolt is perfect to span the opening of a gate. Make sure to measure the thickness of all the gate.

We used this for our big gate, definitely provides accessibility for both sides of the gate. We have tenants, so this helps out who's coming in from what side.

We looked for this style gate lock for several years to replace an old one. Can't wait to install it.

Well-made, sturdy, and smooth. I originally bought this lock for my wooden gates, and it has worked perfectly. I ordered another for my white barn doors, but it didn’t match the look, so I returned it. It’s an excellent lock for gates, and several of my friends have bought it and are very happy with it.

I bought one of these for our large driveway gates, so they could be locked without having to resort to padlocks or similar. I was so impressed with the initial purchase that I decided to buy a second! These locks are really nice quality, and come supplied with almost everything required to install them, bar a drill and screwdriver. Yep, they even supply suitable drill bits, although I opted to use my own, as the supplied ones whilst usable aren't the greatest quality. There's a handy, self-adhesive, template to ensure all the holes are drilled in just the right place, a really thoughtful addition that helps ensure a smooth installation process. As mentioned, in the box you also get drill bits for making the necessary sized holes, again, a really nice inclusion, which just adds to the sense of this being a well thought out, quality product. The instructions, if you need them, are easy to follow. Once installed, the locks operate smoothly and look smart from both front and back. The faceplate, for the front, is a nice finishing touch and ensures a professional finish. The supplied keys, of which there were plenty, are a decent enough quality. Granted, they're not high security, but they are much better than what you get with many locks. The lock itself is nice and sturdy. The shot bolt is a good, thick metal construction, of a square profile. The keep has a plastic lining, which is nicely profiled to aid the bolt home. Again, it's these little details that add to the sense of quality. Having had these in use now for several months, there have been no issue at all. They work nice and smoothly and offer a good sense of security. Granted, they aren't the cheapest option, but they are certainly worth the extra over cheaper alternatives. I highly recommend them!

Installation is relatively painless, after modifying my gate by adding a block of white oak to carry the new lock, the first thing I noticed, the self adhesive template struggled to stick to a soggy, rough sawn garden gate, nevertheless a bit of gaffa tape later I started to drill the two required 19mm holes that the lock goes through. Once drilled I moved onto mounting the lock, now it's worth mentioning that, as with most pressure treated wood, it's soft, with that the instructions called for me to drill the holes with a 3.5mm drill bit, yet the one enclosed was a 4.5mm, regardless that predrilled holes would only later weaken the screws grip of the gate timber I just sent the screws straight in, even the ones that went into the bone dry oak, with the use of a 9yo cordless drill, sank in without hesitation. The lock keep has a plastic insert with a sprung tab that is there to minimize gate rattle in high winds and looks like it should be OK in the long run, just make sure in installation that it's the correct way round before fastening down as the lock bolt will not fully lock if it's the wrong way. I had added some red grease to my lock just to help it in the long run, the lock barrel is a bespoke type and unlike common lock barrels that have a cam which turns with a key, this barrel uses a sprocket that drives the pin via its predrilled holes (as seen from underneath the bolt) this type of barrel is not a common variety on the market so would probably be hard to source. I did like the included anti-tamper screws (as I planned to use coach bolts, and may still swap two out later on the lock) but both of the drill bits included were a waste of time as the 19mm one bent while drilling the first hole, and had I used the enclosed 4.5mm drill bit, they would have opened the mounting holes too much and resulted in remounting the lock a second time leaving holes all over the place. Ive still rated it as a 5 star as the product is better than I expected and I would buy either this one again or another from this range now, granted the included drill bits were a bit useless but using my own wasn't a deal breaker as I already expected to use my own.
