Mine came with a very light coating of oil. Any light lubricating oil (not WD-40, it is not a lubricant) should be adequate (like 3 in one). It can be wiped on the ball screw and the ball nut / carriage run back and forth to transfer onto the balls in the ball nut. It does not have to be dripping or soaked in oil. It is not necessary and it is messy.
