Beautifully written and obviously true (to anyone who has worked in end-of-life care)
As a Registered Nurse who has dedicated most of my career caring for folks with life-limiting illnesses, Dr. Anderson's stories of his own experiences rang so true to home. Immediately, I knew Reggie was the real deal and guided by our Heavenly Father to learn and share the amazing gifts of death and dying with others. Truly, there is nothing to fear for anyone who knows God or seeks His Will for their lives during this blink of time we call "life". I've never had a patient regret not having a bigger home or more jewels as they were readying to leave this world. Rather, what I've learned is this: the only thing that truly matters after it is all said and done, is your relationships with others and how much love you've given and received. Those who understand this truth saunter towards death as if they were walking home from a high school dance. They are tired but filled with memories they've shared and cherished and with gratitude for having experienced it all. I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Anderson's book, Appointments with Heaven. It speaks frankly of the blessings and the lessons we are graced with as we walk alongside those who go before us. I praise God for every patient who invited me into this deeply intimate experience journey and I look forward to seeing them again when my own appointment with heaven arrives. I've asked a few to make sure they send a prayer down for me every now and again, and I promised to send up prayers for them as well. Truly, we are united in spirit both here on Earth and in the Eternal. God is such an amazing, all-loving Father to us all!

As someone who lost their son to suicide the turning away from God spoke volumes. We are 6 years past his suicide attempt and I still miss him and some days want to be with him so badly. Thus book gave me a reason to keep going one step at a time....I will evenly get there.

If you like lilacs and citrus….
For those who are grieving, the author does convey the hope and promise of heaven along with God’s love for all of us. However, I felt that a lot of the book was redundant and I would have liked to have read more stories about his patients. I was also a little put off by the fact that the author tells of his dreams where he actually goes to heaven and sees his loved ones and talks to Jesus. Maybe it is just my own personal jealousy that I have prayed and prayed, begging God for just a glimpse of my daddy in heaven, and nothing. The author also suggests that he has a spiritual gift that allows him to feel what is wrong with his patients and that God speaks to him in these moments. I have no doubt of this ability, but it was implied over and over in the book. The author also piggybacks off of his relationship with Steven Curtis Chapman. While I have always been a fan of SCC, I would have liked for the author to have made the book more his own. There are also hints to Mary Beth Chapman’s book “Choosing To See.” I’ve read the book already and it really is wonderful (just have Kleenex on hand), but again, the author’s experiences up to the passing of Maria should have been done in greater detail. I guess I was just seeking more content about his experiences with patients hovering between veils, and not a detailed account of how he met his wife. Granted, his marriage was also a result of a first hand encounter with God and a dream, but how many of us have a Damascus Road encounter on the daily? Maybe you can relate, but as someone who struggles to hear God’s voice, I couldn’t.

Amazing look at the reality of Heaven and the promises we can truly put our faith in.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Appointments With Heaven .This has been such a blessing to me. I too have experienced tragic loss in my life. I have wondered as well, the why's, as all of us do. I've also considered if not for having the promise through Christ that is offered to all of us the terrible fate that we would have. The gift of life is truly precious and our Heavenly Father has given us this gift to begin with. He created us in his image and his likeness. We have the same emotions he has, when Christ was on earth, he grieved with Martha and many others. I think of when Jesus - Yesuha our Saviour was dying of the cross how the Father allowed his sufferings . It was even foretold in the writing in the Holy profits. In the book of Isaiah 53: 10-12 But it was the Lord's good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life and the Lord's plan will prosper in his hands. When that is accomplished by his aguish he will be satisfied. And because of what he has experienced, my righteous servant will make possible for many to be counted righteous. For he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of one who is mighty and great, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among those who were sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners. I had a revelation while reading this book , how could we possibly know the overwhelming grief and anguish Christ suffered on our behalf to give us the gift of life forever in his presence ? And the precious gift of Heaven had we not had our own hearts broken from grief we might have missed the significance of it all. The magnitude of this profound love God has for us. Romans 8: 18-30 says Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God's curse. All creation anticipates the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And even though we as Christians, although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, also groan to be released from pain and suffering. We, too, wait anxiously for that day when God will give us full rights as his children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Now that we are saved, we eagerly look forward to this freedom. For if you already have something, you don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently. This book has given me a glimpse of Heaven and we need to constantly remind ourselves and others of this future realty that is ours.

Great ending!
I got this book because it had good reviews and it was recommended to comfort me in a time of severe grief. At first I was disappointed, it didn't provide much comfort at all, the first half of the book tells Reggie's life story in far too much detail, in my opinion... I just kept thinking "get on with it", I almost stopped reading it but I'm happy I didn't give up... those last few chapters were awesome and admittedly they wouldn't have had such an impact on me if I hadn't read his life story first. Definitely a 'feel good' ending for someone who is bereaved and looking for reassurance of life after life.

A wonderful book, it will appeal to believers or non believers alike-- however I did not realize that is was in large print when I ordered it-- It is intended for gifts so I will give it to people with compromised eyesight
