Very happy with purchase...

For the last ten years, I've been using One-Touch meters (along with a Dexcom CGM) to measure my glucose levels. For the last two weeks, I've been also using the GE100 Blood Glucose Monitoring System in parallel...every time I used the One-Touch, I also used the GE to see how well they tracked each other. Long story short...they did. Over the two week period, I ran from moderate lows to not-so-moderate highs with the two systems staying within a few percent of each other. I have no idea which was more accurate in an absolute sense, but they were both certainly good enough to calculate insulin dosage and let me know what's going on.The GE100 has many advantages over the One-Touch system. The strips are larger, easier to handle and click into place. They use a smaller sample size. Most importantly, they're also much, much cheaper. The $0.60+ per strip retail price of the One-Touch strip is unconscionable for a product that can't cost even a penny to make...you're basically printing microscopic amounts of chemicals onto a plastic substrate, laminating a cover sheet in place and slicing it into strips. The $0.15 per strip price of the GE100 system is much more reasonable.There are two downsides to the GE. First, if you use a computer to analyze your readings, you need to purchase a special cable to connect the two. Even though the meter has a standard mini-USB jack, the computer won't recognize it if you just plug them together. (stupid design decision). Secondly, the test strips aren't in general distribution...at least I haven't been able to find them at any of our local pharmacies. YMMV. If I was cynical, I'd say that this is because they don't make as much money off of them, but I'm not...it may just be systemic distribution issues. In any case, you can order them here at Amazon.I'm switching as soon as I work through my One-Touch inventory. Even though the per strip price of the two is almost the same after insurance reimbursement (for the One-Touch Ultra strips. There' s no reimbursement for Amazon purchases), there's no reason to cost Anthem any more than necessary...it boils back into what they charge for coverage. Plus the GE100 is easier to use. To quote (somebody's) Grandfather, "What's not to like?".

Doesn't fit properly into device. It's missing a little notch, so it doesn't sit flat. Took a chance on Prime Days, luckily I could return the box.
