Very nice dimmers overall ✅
I’ve been updating a lot of older lights to new “wire type” led bulbs and many of the old dimmers were not compatible 🥺 I have tried several other brands but like these Kasa Smart units the best. They are well made ✅ I like the screw terminals for either line-load or travelers on these. You can put a serious “tight” on the screws and they grip well. No breaking / no stripping. I am also comforted by the fact that these carry the ETL cert and some info about UL “conforming” and a bunch of other “ratings” or “standards” as well. The overall feel is nice. It’s hard to describe but the plastic just feels like “quality” under your finger. The subtle “click” on the main on/off button contractor is also very “quality feeling” unlike some of the others that I tried that just feel “cheap”. I have installed about a dozen of these now and the Wi-Fi set-up worked easily on all but one. I could not get it to connect to my router. I almost gave up after half a dozen tries but then tried both the “restart” and “reset” and it connected easily. Smooth dimming operation, no flicker, no whining. Overall, I like the app but it doesn’t seem to connect to some of the other Wi-Fi switches and outlets I already had. It would be nice to simplify to just one app. Maybe it’s possible, but it’s not obvious to me yet unless I move away from the Kasa app. But I kinda like the Kasa app. The single location and 3-way kits work fine but I don’t see any option for 4-way lighting⚡️There are videos clearly showing that a mechanical 4-way “center” switch can be used but I don’t want to go that route. It’s not clear to me why they can’t make a companion 4-way for this system. I have older electronic dimmers that work fine in a 4-way system; it was possible 20 years ago but not today ❓

Why didn't I do this sooner??
To be used, its a great item. Only issue i had was with a short cut ground wire on the satellite side ...otherwise, respliced it and made it work. No issues, love the product for my hallway recessed night lights. Installation was almost a breeze besides the wifi hiccups! Instructions are clear, I have little to no knowledge to this and this felt very easy once I was able to determine the main line from the travelers.

Great once setup
These 3 way switches are great once you get them wired up. I didn't have experience installing 3 way switches, though I have installed many of the single switch TP Link switches. The first 3 way switch took a while but most of the others went much quicker. These switches are pretty meaty, particularly the main switch. I had to modify the inside of one of my electric boxes in my 1950s home to squeeze switch in, and for a garage application with metal box cover, had to trim away at the mounting tabs to fit. Biggest issue I had was that I installed the 4th or 5th three way switch and got flashing red circle upon startup. There was no way the wiring was wrong, it was super obvious in both electric boxes what went where. So I put in a new TP Link 3 way switch and still got same error. Disappointed, I tried swapping the traveler wires on one of the switches and miraculously, problem solved. The orientation of the two traveler wires is not supposed to matter, don't know what happened there but at least it works now. If you're sure the wires are correctly oriented but you have red circle, maybe test switching travelers on one of the switches. Once they are set up, they work wonderfully. Love the white LED ring on the front so you can find the switch in the dark. The LED ring is a slightly different color/brightness than TP Link's single switches, my wife wishes they were the same. Tons of options for scheduling and so forth. So far, couple weeks, very reliable - I've always had a good experience with TP Link's switches. Part of my 5-star review is that I've wanted a matching 3 way dimmer switch relative to TP Link's very good single dimmer switches, so really happy to finally have a solution for all my applications. At the sale cost of ~$36 per 3 way switch kit and reasonable simplicity to install myself, it is a fantastic value for us to have remote control of everything.

Nice 3-way switches that work great with Alexa
I'm slowly installing Alexa switches throughout our home, but this was the first 3-way switch I put in. It works great, once I got the wiring correct. The instructions were very good, but I'm not an electrician and our home's wiring didn't match the diagrams exactly. A little trial & error and I figured it out though. I also replaced the bulbs with newer dimmable LEDs to prevent flickering. The only headache was the size of the box made it a tight squeeze into the receptacle gang box of our 65 year old house. It connects well and I like that I can activate the switches with either a verbal Alexa command, or tapping the switch. We can also say "Alexa, dim 50%" and it works nicely right away. The switches look great and the slight glow of a circle in the middle is a nice touch.

Works perfectly with Amica LED puck lights
We added a bunch of LED puck lights in our hallway underneath the AC duct, and it really brightened the area up - too much! It looked like a hospital operating room and my wife immediately told me we needed a dimmer switch. Looking at the literature for these lights, they have a short list of recommended dimmers, and this set was not on that list. They discouraged using smart dimmers completely, but that doesn't fly at my house. All my lights and fans are connected to smart switches, and these hallway lights were going to be the same. I bought these Kasa 3-way smart dimmer switches and they work perfectly. The lights go really dim with no flickering, and they were really easy to tie into my Amazon Alexa system. We have had zero issues with connectivity, and I love that they have a ring of light about the size of a dime built into the switch when they are off so I can see the light switch in the dark to turn them on. The price is great for such a highly functional smart 3-way switch - definitely recommended!

5/5 would buy again
I initially passed over these lights because I'm not an Apple product user and have no intention of using Apple Home Kit. I had wired another brand of smart switches throughout my entire house that were maybe 15% cheaper but I could also find them at Home Depot. The switches I installed were not compatible with my local network and home automation software. They also dropped network connection everyday, the app was cheap and barely worked, and the dimming stuttered. So I bought these Kasa switches and other 3-Way switches, and just finished installing all of them. It is anmight and day difference. Kasa app is extremely easy to use, the options for customization are amazing, the operation of the dimmer is so smooth it's easy on the eyes. Better yet, they are all working with a third party home automation program I was hoping to use. If you are in the market and hoping to add Kasa products to your home just buy these. Save yourself the hassle of buying, installing, uninstalling, and returning cheaper alternatives.

Fails TP-Link Kasa setup, Incompatible with Current WiFi Defaults
The KS230 3‑way dimmer looks like a solid product on paper, but the setup experience exposes a major flaw: it simply doesn’t work reliably with the kind of Wi‑Fi networks that have been standard for years. For example, Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) began rolling out in 2019 and has been mainstream since 2020, and phone MAC randomization is default security for years, yet the KS230 still behaves like it expects a router and phone from a decade ago. It fails to connect unless the network is stripped down to legacy 2.4 GHz settings—no Wi‑Fi 6, no WPA3, no band steering, no PMF, and 20 MHz channels only. These aren’t exotic configurations; they’re the defaults on Eero, Orbi, Google Nest, ASUS, and even TP‑Link’s own Deco systems. The most frustrating part is that other TP‑Link Kasa models have absolutely no trouble; various Kasa plugs and switches connect instantly to the same networks where the KS230 repeatedly fails. The problem is apparently specific to the KS230’s outdated Wi‑Fi chipset and its fragile AP‑mode pairing process. During setup, the switch broadcasts a temporary “TP‑Link_XXXX” network, your phone joins it, and the app attempts to hand off your home Wi‑Fi credentials. On modern networks, that handoff often never completes, the KS230 fails setup mode. TP‑Link support consistently recommends the same workaround: reconfigure your entire Wi‑Fi network to legacy settings and modify your mobile device to match-then even telling you to set up a wifi hotspot with different DNS settings! That means disabling current common wifi standards and even turning off MAC randomization on your phone. I followed all of these steps, even creating a dedicated 2.4 GHz network then again a Hotspot just for setup, and the KS230 still fails to join the dedicated Wi‑Fi. Support’s guidance essentially asks you to downgrade a modern, secure network to accommodate a single light switch—and even then, success is not guaranteed. In a world where these Wi‑Fi settings have been the norm for more than half a decade and every other Kasa device connects without complaint, the KS230 stands out for all the wrong reasons. It’s a product that apparently hasn’t kept pace, and the TP-Link Kasa KS230 kit fails ultimately.

The Secret Superpower Every Parent Needs
Installing the Kasa Smart 3-Way Dimmer Switch has been a total game-changer—especially as a parent. If you have kids who constantly leave the lights on, this is a must-have. ✔ Ultimate Convenience – I installed these in the basement, and now I don’t have to trek downstairs every night just to turn off the lights the kids left on. I just tap my phone, and done. ✔ Dimming & Remote Control – Whether I want to set the mood for movie night or just turn the lights off from bed, the app makes it effortless. ✔ Reliable Wi-Fi Connection – No hub required, and they’ve stayed connected without issue. ✔ E-Z setup – It takes just a few minutes per switch and then is typically coupled with an update (switches need firmware updates? What a brave new world..). Then you're good to go. Honestly, once you have one, you’ll want more. These are the kind of smart home upgrades that feel like a superpower. Highly recommend!

Great Smart Dimmer Switch Kit
Installation was straightforward and the app setup was quick. Works perfectly from both switch locations, and the dimming is smooth and responsive. Very convenient with voice control and scheduling features.

Waste of money
عشقم اینو میزاری تو رویو امازون واسه کسا که خریدیم I usually really like Kasa products. This is actually the third Kasa switch I’ve bought – the previous two smart dimmable switches installed easily and work great with my Wi-Fi, Kasa app, and Alexa. This 3-way smart dimmer, however, has been extremely frustrating. The wiring is correct and the light itself works from both switches, but the smart part will not connect properly. My phone can see and connect to the temporary “TP-Link_Smart…” network, but when the Kasa app tries to add it to my home Wi-Fi, it just fails over and over. I’ve tried everything: factory resets, 2.4 GHz only, turning off mobile data, standing right next to the router, and repeating the setup many times. Nothing works. What makes it worse is that I’ve already installed it in the wall and used the screws and other hardware, so now I’m not even sure how easy it will be to return. For a brand I usually trust, this specific 3-way dimmer has been a big disappointment and a waste of my time. If you’re expecting a smooth setup like other Kasa switches, be prepared for potential headaches with this one.

Tricky install but worth it once completed
Works great. Hard to install. The diagram was useless because of the way my house has been wired. Didnt match the diagram. But got it hooked up and very easy to program with Alexa.
