GE Appliances WR60X10185 Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor

This was a sanity saver when area GE parts joint didn't have this part handy. This arrived in 24 hours. The installer installed it and I was a happy customer with a working refrigerator.

Thanks to this product i was able to fix easily my GE GCE23LGBT which was diagnosed with warm temperatures on both sides.

Milk spoiling? Fridge runs and runs and is cold in the back of the freezer, but no air blows when you open it up? You can fix your fridge! Rather than throw out that >$1000 fridge, buy a simple to install replacement part!This part was an exact drop-in replacement for the old motor in my GE refrigerator (same Panasonic part number).I did have to remove a molded on silicone rubber mounting piece on the old motor's wiring harness (this is seen in some photos of this motor out on the web) so I could mount it on the new motor. If you want to do this (optional, OCD engineer step), slice the rubber carefully lengthwise along the direction that the wiring runs so that you can free it from the over-molded part. Once you have the old wiring harness free, you can slip the rubber mount onto the new motor's wiring harness in such a way that the new wires run where the old wires were placed.While you have the fridge opened up for service, you should go ahead a check the controller board for damage (specifically the power resistors). Check the web and youtube for how-to videos that show how to measure voltage on the control board to see if it is damaged as well (Amazon sells these boards as well). I didn't need them, but I bet there are videos that walk you through the replacement process for the motor itself.Now my fridge works great again! Spoiled milk? A thing of the past!I gave this motor only 4 stars because although Amazon went above and beyond getting me the new motor by Monday afternoon when ordered Saturday afternoon, the old motor should not have failed in the way that it did (dead coil in the brushless DC motor drive as well as a horrid grinding noise from the rotor for months before the motor finally died).Update: Extra, unexpected benefit -> our icemaker started working well again. It worked before, but was real slow to fill. So if your icemaker works but is slow, the fan may be the culprit there too!

I have a GE Monogram 48 in side by side had issue where freezer temperature only went as high as -2 C. Bought a non-OEM evaporator fan for about $15. Freezer went up to set temperature-18 C but occasionally drop down to between -12 C to -9C and then came back up to set temperature at -18 C. Recently bought OEM for GE Evaporator for $59 and replace that with $15 fan. Freezer now is working normal temp stay at set temperature.

One day, the freezer and fresh food compartments started to get progressively warmer. The freezer had trouble staying below 32 degrees and the fresh food section was above 50 degrees. With the freezer door open and the door switched is depressed, there was no evaporator fan noise. The compressor can be heard running and it was chilling but without the fan circulating the cold air from the evaporator, both compartments remained warm. Additionally, this caused frost to build up on the back wall inside the freezer.This is the replacement part to fix the broken fan motor. Allow a few hours to replace the motor -- between emptying the freezer’s contents, removing the shelves, all of the shelf rails, the ice tray, the ice auger motor, the ice maker, the lights, the back panel, the fan mounting panel and then finally, replace the motor (and modify the wiring harness). Essentially, the entire inside of the freezer, except for the evaporator itself, is disassembled and then re-assembled. On a side-by-side, the freezer is quite narrow making it difficult to move around; pretty much, most of the work is done one-handed.Be aware that you may actually need part number WR60X10074 which is the fan motor with the wiring harness that has the defrost thermistor attached. Unfortunately, the only way to find out which one you need is to dismantle the freezer to get access to the motor and look at it. If you end up ordering this motor without the thermistor wiring, you can easily remove the two thermistor wires and their connector pins from the old harness and insert them into the new harness. There are two empty holes on the new connector. If you are replacing the fan motor, GE recommends that you replace the thermistor anyway.

This motor comes in versions to fit many refrigerators. What is usually different is the wiring that accompanies it. Some wiring bundles have a molded-on seal too. People choose the "wrong" part and the listings can be wrong too. If your new part doesn't match, it's almost always a matter of cutting the new part's wires long and the old part's wires short, and splicing them in any of half a dozen ways. Don't be afraid of the wiring on this expensive little puppy; it's more forgiving than it may at first seem.BUT: be very afraid of breaking it; the shaft is inserted into the central hub and that fit is very (inexcusably) weak. Be very gentle mounting the fan blade assembly and don't hit nothing noway nohow never. There are also two red mounting bushings that go on this thing and you MIGHT/MIGHT NOT want to get two new ones if they look too worn (hard to jury-rig), but they should easily last ten years and better.

This is the exact part I removed from my approximate 12 year old GE Profile refrigerator. It would’ve been an easy fix, but I ended up having to splice the wires. The reason is because the original motor wires are fed through a rubber grommet, I couldn’t figure out how to take out the 6 wires running into the plug on the new fan through the grommet. So I ended up picking some butt slicers and crimped the new motor wires to the old connector. I also have a 2 wire thermometer attached to the same connector.Replaced part, took about 1.5 hours, fairly easy replacement. I’d advice taking pictures with your phone to help remember where all the parts you take out go back into. I had to remove ice maker and 2 shelving rails to get to the fan cover.Kudos to amazon for getting this to me in less then 24 hours!!

Get the right part number for your fridges' serial number. This was a direct fit for my ge serial number LV311346 /model number GDSCOKBXCRWW top fridge refridgerator. No need to splice wires. So if your plug or wiring or anything does not line up, you have the wrong motor

Quite and works like new! Spend the $ on the better fan as I bought the cheap one first. The cheap one was noisy after a few days.

Didn’t last 3 months. We bought it, replaced it, it worked, now it is starting to make the same “howling” noise …. Now what? Buy another one? Buy a new fridge… we’re not happy.

I have a GE Profile frid 2 years 2 months old, would freeze bottom good, would not cool top part,.Called service man,arrived freeze section pure ice.Defosted,fan motor not working.Called all supplers includedGE parts.Motor NOT Available for 2 months!!!! no parts!! Reseached Goggle by Goggle GE applaince sectionsold to Hisene ,China,For over 5 Billions + $$$$$$$$$ in 2016.How you like that?? Checked Amazon for parts,found item, not exact no,but read many reviews,need to cut wire and extend, so ordered item,GE said 2 months, Amazon 5 days.How you like That.??.Checked motor when arrived first so was good.Checked with frid, was also Good. Cut +Sliced,ALL GOOD.Motor runs better than the one in fridge.Less noise. Be carefull for GE appliances in future.Will not buy any GE again. No Parts! No service.Thanks again Amazon!!!!!!!
